To get the most out of Evolver, create your profile now!

Journey through the universe on Spaceship Earth with the Leonardo da Vinci of the twentieth century as your guide. Futurist, environmentalist, and geodesic dome designer Bucky Fuller takes us on an adventure through his life and times—from his childhood in Massachusetts, to his meeting with Albert Einstein, to his breakthrough moments of invention. A visionary who anticipated many of the challenges the world faces today, Fuller shows us how to save humanity and the planet by doing more with less.

Showing Jan 14th to Feb 5th at the American Repertory Theater in Cambridge, MA.

Special Event on Jan 22 and 23

The Synergetics Collaborative, Foundation for New Directions (FND), Museum of Mathematics (MoMath), and American Repertory Theater (A.R.T.) present a special event on 22 & 23 January 2011 in Cambridge, MA. The impetus for the event is the performance of R. Buckminster Fuller: THE HISTORY (and Mystery) OF THE UNIVERSE at the A.R.T. Performances start on Jan 14th and run through Feb 5th. We have a special $35 group rate for the performances at 2 PM on Jan 22nd (for our special exhibit and geometry activity) and at 7:30 PM on Jan 23rd (for the Dymaxion Car #4 presentation). Please register to receive our special promotional code and instructions for ordering tickets. Note: tickets are on a first come, first served basis, so order your tickets now.

Immediately following (at 4:30 PM) the matinee performance (which stats at 2 PM) on 22 Jan 2011 will be our main exhibit in the West Lobby of A.R.T. The event will feature a special hands-on activity led by George Hart of the Museum of Mathematics (MoMath). The activity will engage people of all ages in the group building ("barnraising") of a human-scale artifact with a connection to the geometrical work of R. Buckminster Fuller and Marvin Solit. In addition to this powerful educational experience there will be exhibits put together by the Synergetics Collaborative, the Foundation for New Directions (FND) and MoMath. Synergetics Collaborative, MoMath and FND will have people on hand to discuss, explain, demonstrate and engage participants with the displays. Some displays will be hands-on.

The event will have particular appeal to math, geometry, and Bucky enthusiasts, educators, Marvin Solit's FND members and students. The event will be in the West Lobby of A.R.T. from 4:30 PM – 6:15 PM on Saturday afternoon January 22. A ticket stub from any performance of the play will get you into the West Lobby to participate in the event.

On Sunday, 23 January from 10 AM to 4 PM, the Foundation for New Directions (FND) will host a discussion seminar on "Building on Marvin Solit's Work". There is a YouTube video of Marvin's work on Hierarchy of Polyvertexia. Please either bring a potluck or pre-register and bring $15 so we can provide enough food for lunch.

Finally, there will be a presentation on "Lord Norman Foster's Dymaxion Car #4" by Thomas T. K. Zung immediately following the performances on Sunday 23 January 2011 (matinee at 2 PM, evening at 7:30 PM). A ticket stub from any performance of the play will get you into the theater at 4:30 PM or 10 PM to attend the Dymaxion Car persentation.

Yeah I just saw this flyer

Yeah I just saw this flyer at the Tealuxe in Harvard Sq today! This looks awesome and I think it would be great if Evolver could get into it/get involved or at least just have a group of people attend, and then maybe meet afterwards at a pub and talk about it.
