ALICE IN WONDERLAND: MICHAEL ALAN'S DRAWATHON THEATER
ALICE IN WONDERLAND
SAT FEB 6TH: 7PM-12AM
The Millennium Film Center | 66 E. 4th Street | between 2nd Ave and Bowery
Beautiful, bizarre and unlike any version you could imagine. This
cannot be missed. This is your chance to draw, paint and re-imagine a classic epic.
Michael Alan and an all-star cast of 15 nude maniacs will retell Lewis Carroll’s brilliant fantasy of imagination, truth and nonsense.
As the iconic, absurdist Wonderland characters, models & performers will try to convince Alice that she is who she was as a child. Jan Svankmajer’s innovative Alice will serve as both inspiration and backdrop to the performance. Dramatically lit and wildly staged, the performers will make full use of the Millennium Film Center, climbing through the seats and aisles at various points during the performance.
Come sober and leave high.
The Millennium Film Center, a New York City landmark, has been showing underground film screenings since 1966 and is “one of the oldest media arts centers in the United States.” Approximately 5,000 square feet, the movie theater is spacious and eccentric, preserved in its original form and located at subway-level – giving the theater a surreal, time capsule-like feel.
