Creating a New Myth for the Post-Postmodern Era
One of the functions of myth is to help us face the unknown. Integral Theory is a way to review the last 20,000 years of human development, and development in our own lives as we grow to adulthood, and categorize all that arises in the world and in the mind. Integral claims to be a theory of everything that swallows all myths, but can Integral be characterized as yet another myth?! While it positions itself "above" the previous 6 stages (from mythic to post-modern) we’ll take a look at the Integral framework from Jordan's perspective, and we'll learn why he feels that Integral fails to answer the big questions of "why we are here," and "what to do" -- based on his own subjective experience.
On March 1st, we'll introduce Integral theory to newbies in a creative fashion AND simultaneously examine a way to enliven Integral thinking into a mythos that operates for the Good ("I"), the Beautiful (We) and the True ("It"). We’ll also collectively explore how the tension of Yin and Yang (and Spiral Dynamics) manifests in our daily lives, using a unique form of inquiry and exercises.
With the help of Jordan’s artistic Powerpoint presentation, we'll also set out to catch a glimpse of the Post-Integral Mind -- or at least start a lively evening discussion about what that might look like!
The implications for business, organizations, cultural movements, politics and relationships are tremendous. You won't want to miss this! Join us for a fun evening unlike any Ken Wilber Meetup ever before!
Bio:
Jordan Schachter has written and directed several feature films and television pilots as well as plays in New York. He has acted in and produced many of these plays and short films.
Jordan's educational films have been seen by over a million students nationwide. He has also worked with major news corporations including The New York Times, RNN-TV, and he was an on-air commentator for The Oxygen Network.
Jordan worked in the Internet advertising industry. He was Director of Interactive Communications for Wunderman, the world's largest direct marketing agency, and for Interbrand, the world's largest branding agency. For many years, he had his own boutique agency, Machineborn, and helped The New York Times make millions of dollars from new subscribers. Now, ironically, he rarely reads the newspaper.
Currently, his life is focused on his upcoming book Be True Love. It is a spiritual cookbook, and it comes as big a surprise to him as well as to anyone else who has known him. The book is the result of years of searching -- Landmark Education, School of Practical Philosophy, Ken Wilber Meetup, and meditation practices are to thank or blame.
Jordan also founded the Time Interchange of NY, a site where New Yorkers can trade goods and services for an alternative currency called Time Dollars or TINY’s.
The only thing you really need to know? His intentions are good.
