Plant Teachers & Rites of Passage
Evolver Palm Springs' February Spore, "Plant Teachers and Rites of Passage," will explore the contribution of plant wisdom and its role in various rites of passage here and around the world.
A rite of passage is a ritual event that marks a person's passage from one status to another. Our culture has few rites of passage, but the need for them remains deep in our psyche, as our ancestors placed great importance on those rites.
This spore will focus on the roles plants have played in facilitating rites of passage. Why were they used? What is sacred about them? What do they have to teach us?
A panel of speakers will share their experiences with tribal rites of passage using various entheogens, and explore rites of passage in contemporary society.
