Where: The Area, 1119 10th Ave SE (Next to Crown Surplus in Inglewood)
Gather yourselves and come connect at The Area for a night of discussion and sharing as Evolver Calgary explores Modern Love around a glowing campfire.
Fire has long been a powerful metaphor and symbol of love. Following the tradition of our tribal ancestors, the fire will ignite and inspire us, comfort and connect us.
Following an opening meditation we will take explore a range of topics with the aide talking stick to guide our discussion. These topics will include the Concepts of Love, Openess, Mystery, Trancending Social Definitions, and Touching Without Sexual Intent, as well as time for open discussion.
Our intention for the evening is one of free flowing energy and open sharing, and of loving for the sake of love itself.
Bring something or someone you love, a musical intrument or a child, a loving memory or an inspiring story, and share it along with your love at our June Spore.
If you love marshmallows... bring marshmallows. ;-)
This will be a night of collaborative creation.
Love,
Evolver Calgary & The Area

Official Spore Language:
Since the Sexual Revolution of the 1960s, the West underwent a transformation in how the erotic impulse is lived and expressed, for both better and worse. On the one hand, the loosening of sexual repression was necessary to pry open and relax a closeted, morally constricted society. On the other hand, the excess of sexual license led to exploitation of female sexuality for commercial purposes, to the dissolution of responsibility seen in the collapse of marriages and the disintegration of families. Our society is now deeply conflicted, contradictory - often blatantly hypocritical - in its approach to love, sexuality, eroticism, and intimacy. Homosexuals and bisexuals remain subject to legal and cultural interdiction; political careers can be immediately ruined due to erotic indiscretions; meanwhile, crude exhibitionism and inebriated excess is encouraged in “Spring Break” gatherings and on TV shows.
In this Spore, we will explore The Future of Love in all its facets, from breakthroughs in evolutionary psychology around the origin of current mating patterns to the potential for elevating eroticism by restoring a sacred and Tantric dimension to relationships. Tantric practices seek the union of opposites to dissolve boundaries between Self and Other to realize divine love and non-duality. This month 40+ regional groups can explore love from the sacred to the profane, as well discussing gender identity – straight, lesbian, bi, transgender, and everything in between - and how it shapes culture and perception.
At 10:30pm EST (7:30 PST), MedMob, a group dedicated to creating synchronized meditation through “FlashMobs,” will lead a 10-minute meditation with the intention of bringing more love into the world – an event that is open to all.
