Water Rites: A Ceremony of Communal Intention to Heal Our Waters
Tell your friends and spread the word: On Friday, Oct. 7, a day sacred to Venus, people in Omaha (and those who are visiting from out-of-town) who want to honor the Moon and the Divine Feminine, and heal the waters of Mother Earth, are welcome to join our intentions in a Water Rites ceremony. Dan Furst and Felina Lune Kavi will guide an evening of clown ritual, breath alignment, chant and movement. If you resonate with a one-night intentional community like this one, please bring musical instruments and voices, and dress in lunar colors of silver, white, and blue. A love offering (donation) will be appreciated for the use of the space, but no one will be turned away for lack of funds. ALL are welcome!
This ceremony, like many others that are done by intentional communities at the Solstices and Equinoxes, New and Full Moons, and Earth festivals such as Beltane and Samhain, is non-religious, and does not reflect the beliefs or liturgy of any one faith. Rather, these ceremonies are eclectic, inclusive celebrations of Earth spirituality, and of the values of love, kindness, compassion, forgiveness, mercy and joy that all positive spiritual traditions hold in common.
This kind of ceremony consists of these parts:
1.) Welcome and alignment with Mother Earth and the four directions
2.) Clown ritual: releasing from the heart everything that is not love
3.) Acknowledgement of divine, angelic and elemental spirit energies
4.) Conspiration: Breathing together for a sacred purpose
5.) Chanting of mantras and sacred music from several traditions
6.) Movement and dance, as in Sufi ceremony or the Dances of Universal Peace
7.) Offering and communion: Blessing and sharing the sacred element of Water
8.) Meditation for the benefit of the waters of Mother Earth. This concluding part will apply Jonathan Goldman’s formula: Sound + Intention = Healing. We’ll charge our intention with the sounds of voices and instruments such as crystal singing bowls, didjeridoos, bells, drums, rattles and flutes. Participants will be encouraged to bring their own instruments, crystals and other personal ritual objects.
While Dan and Felina will talk as needed to guide the ceremony, we will not ask our co-celebrants to take the passive role of listeners at a lecture or performance. This ceremony will be highly interactive and participatory. While our co-celebrants will not be required to sing and move, they will be encouraged to open their breath, voices, bodies and intentions for their own empowerment, and in service to their community and our planet.
We hope you will join us under the waxing moon of October 7th!
Love and Gratitude,
Felina Lune Kavi
