Manufactured Landscapes

[[MANUFACTURED LANDSCAPES is the striking new documentary on the world and work of renowned artist Edward Burtynsky. Internationally acclaimed for his large-scale photographs of “manufactured landscapes”—quarries, recycling yards, factories, mines and dams—Burtynsky creates stunningly beautiful art from civilization’s materials and debris.

Lines in Sand - a short essay

Do you think God, if he exists, is really concerned about lines on a map and preferring one side over the other? Those are strictly human constructions, and perhaps we will soon see through them and instead experience something transcendent - no more will we categorize our thinking by lines drawn in sand. The tides of truth are hostile to our propensity to project, label, and demarcate.

Advocate Cognitive Liberty

What is cognitive liberty?

Cognitive liberty means that we ought to have the freedom, protected under law, to explore by whatever means we personally deem necessary, the full spectrum of human consciousness.

Dear Star0

Star0, I have a question for you -

Why do you think technology is going to serve as some sort of external salvation for humanity? If this is not what you think, my apologies, but I have insinuated that from your postings and news clippings. If this is what you think, please elaborate.

A Decree

We all share a common fate, and that is death, so while we are here, for this brief cosmic interlude which we perceive as our lives, let us act upon our higher human faculties to make this suffering which we know on the material plane less of a burden amongst fellow man. We can act as medicine for each other.

And Then I Stopped Breathing

I only recently started meditating with discipline, whereas previously I approached meditation as something I would do whenever I felt like it. Although I don't do it at the same time every day, I do do it every day now.

Character of the Happy Warrior

By William Wordsworth

WHO is the happy Warrior? Who is he
What every man in arms should wish to be?
—It is the generous Spirit, who, when brought
Among the tasks of real life, hath wrought
Upon the plan that pleased his childish thought:
Whose high endeavours are an inward light
That makes the path before him always bright:
Who, with a natural instinct to discern

Who Are The Oppressors?

The oppressors are those who want to control and manipulate the coercive powers of State, those who want to game the rules, change the playing board in which the game is played for their financial well-being, often at the expense of the citizen.

Occupy Wallstreet - a guiding philosophy

My two broad assumptions:

(1) The State does not serve as an effective counter-weight to corporate interests. Rather than responding to the will of its constituents, the State has increasingly become a tool to protect the financial interests of the politically connected.

Language & Terence McKenna

Everybody who is familiar with Terence is familiar with his theories about how language came to be and how it evolved. Well, I used to not really take his ideas seriously when it came to that certain aspect of his philosophy until I read this.

Legalize Boundless Consciousness

We use language to communicate.

What are we trying to communicate? Experience, internal and external.

To some extent, the amount of tangible experiences we have can limit our universe of language.

We also can use language to communicate our imagination, though communicating our tangible experiences often is seen as more credible.

Why are these substances illegal?
