They took my shoes and watch away almost as soon as I was apprehended.

Well, it's been an interesting weekend, for everyone I expect but for me it has been, well, cataclysmic ...

1. A Knife in the Planet's Jugular

There's been some nebulous talk of the ESM implementing an alternative currency system at some point in the future.

There are some wild stories told by the men who've gone mining in that mountain, the wilderness-eyed and wild-haired explorers at the reaches of reality who have found the secret tunnels and the caverns and stared into the chasms, into an abyss that one by one they learned had been staring back the whole time.

Don't tell me this doesn't hit home. If you don't laugh at yourself at least once, you haven't been paying attention.

Me, I laughed twice: the second time because this shows beyond the shadow of a doubt we're making more of an impact than Official Culture likes to admit.

This hour-long documentary gives a run-down of the agenda, motivation, methodology and prime actors behind the human microchipping agenda.

So it's just edged past the witching hour and for a variety of reasons I've slept little these past few days.

But am I the only one who really wishes Peter Deane would stop disgorging the endless contents of his email archives into the bloglist? I have to go back for pages now to find anything worth reading. Having briefly scanned a couple of the posts I'm entirely baffled as to why he thinks this is in any way relevant or interesting to anyone here.

Oh, those poor Haitians, so unfortunate, their city destroyed, tens or hundreds of thousands dead and now the survivors are dying one by one from injuries, thirst and starvation ... or by the hands of their maddened machete-wielding countrymen, desperate to stave off that fate for themselves.

So it's a week into 2011, and the world, well it isn't pretty but let me tell you, man, it's never been better, either. It doesn't much matter where you are - it's fucked everywhere - but who you are makes all the difference and it's starting to look like people are finally getting that ... and getting too that 'who' they are is the only thing that's really under their control.

Not so long ago, I think back in the summer, the Time Monks (Cliff High of Halfpasthuman and George Ure of Urban Survival) mentioned that the predictive linguistics of their web bot project were coming across references to something called the '15 Percenters'.

Not too long ago I published this little piece, fired it off into the ether and (as is usual with such things) thought nothing more of it except to check for comments now and then, moving on to other commentaries like the intellectual magpie I am.

Ever walk through a city and pay attention to the way its geometry affects you? Architecture is one of the oldest tools for shaping the human mind, for the mind takes its cues from the environment, forming the backdrop of its perception of the world.
