Extreme of the extreme

For some background on seahorses, I wanted to reproduce this passage from Jonathan Safron Foer's Eating Animals:
"My family lived in Berlin in the spring of 2007, and we spent several afternoons at the aquarium. We stared into the tanks - or tanks just like the tanks - that Kafka had stared into. I was particularly taken by the sight of sea horses - those strange, chessman-like creatures that are a favorite of the popular animal imaginaire. Sea horses not only come in the chessman variety, but also in soda straw and plantlike shapes, and range in size from one to eleven inches. I am clearly not the only one fascinated by the perpetually startling appearance of these fish. (We desire to look at them so much that millions die in the aquarium and souvenir trade.) And it is just this odd aesthetic bias that makes me spend time on them here, while I pass over so many other animals - animals closer to our realm of concern. Sea horses are the extreme of the extreme.
"Sea horses, more than most animals, inspire wonder—they draw our attention to the astonishing similarities and discontinuities between each kind of creature and every other. They can change color to blend in with their surroundings, and beat their dorsal fins nearly as fast as a hummingbird beats its wings. Because they have no teeth or stomach, food moves through them almost instantly, requiring them to eat constantly. (Hence such adaptations as eyes that move independently, which allow them to search for prey without tunring their heads.) Not terribly good swimmers, they can die of exhaustion when caught in even small currents, so they prefer to anchor themselves to sea grasses or coral, or to each other—they like to swim in pairs, linked by their prehensile tails. Sea horses have complicated routines for courtship, and tend to mate under full moons, making musical sounds while doing so. They live in long-term monogamous partnerships. What is perhaps most unusual, though, is that it is the male sea horses that carries the young for up to six weeks. Males become properly 'pregnant,' not only carrying, but fertilizing and nourishing the developing eggs with fluid secretions. The image of males giving birth is perpetually mind-blowing: a turbid liquid bursts forth from the brood pouch, and like magic, minuscule but fully formed sea horses appear out of the cloud."

When you first posted this symbol for the week, John, I thought "yeah, who's really gonna see a seahorse this week? And in what context?" I thought it was a good choice though, since it's much less common than the spiral or the eye with which our group has worked in the past.
Well, on to my story:
A very good friend of mine hooked me up with a freelance writing opportunity, and as I was doing the research on the company for which I'll be writing (provided the opportunity pans out) I found out that it is an extraordinarily-apropops segue for me to add a very cool affiliate program to my website, which I've been wanting to do for ages. That's a little beside the point, but thrilled me nonetheless. Then as I was watching the video (keeping that private now, only until things are settled with the freelance opportunity) what do you know, but I am faced with SEAHORSES! ** Unexpected seahorses! ** And several of them! Seahorses have nothing to do with the product/service in question, but they were used in the animation of the demonstration video - simply as part of the background! I about fell off my chair. My day started with a bang (a quite positive one) and then this seahorse synchronicity just topped it off! I do have the second half of the day now to process things....but couldn't wait to share this incredible news with the group.
This synchronicity clinched it for me. The freelance opportunity is perfect for me, the affiliate program is perfect for me, and this group has helped to bring it all together. And for that, thank you, John Topp, and to all the others in this Collective Unconscious. Power and Peace be with you!

eyes and seahorses

I feel quite inspired, moved and connected by the sharing of synchronicities and symbolic sign posts from each of you. Thank you so much for contributing these cherished gifts (inspiration, emoting, and connection).
My camera wasn't available during the 'eye' week (when I joined the group) but it was the same day of the post that I finally suspended the shelf I had fashioned from a beautiful section of tree we felled (it was dead) in my front window, above the window bench. As I reclined beneath it I noticed that I could see the ceiling through a small crack, centered directly in a distinctive eye-shaped knot in the wood.
When seahorse was the symbol this week I appreciated the challenge, and was excited to see if it would manifest for me. By Saturday I had not yet seen one and thought perhaps I needed to consciously expand my awareness a bit! On Saturday, we (me and the housemates) attended the Solstice Parade in Fremont (Seattle) and when we found a parking spot it was in front of a house with these plates on it:
Directly across the street was this image on a wall:
Upon examining my photo and getting mixed feedback from the group, I was disappointed that what I initially perceived as a clear seahorse shape, really didn't have the spiraling tail.. even with the eye staring at it from across the street, I felt doubt shredding the edges of my conviction.. I felt I was stretching. Fast forward 24 hours to a visit from my friend Cyndi who is a creative collaborateur with me - she was playing with cement and some molds she found at a thrift store and brought this stepping stone over for me:
After laughing hysterically and running out of the room, I returned to hear my roommate relating the story of the half a seahorse from the day before and our subsequent discussion on what synchronicities mean to each of us. Funny, for me it was clear: if you don't heed the message when it's served up on a 'plate', sometimes the universe will deliver it louder and heavier.. like, engraved in CEMENT!

Big. The plate certainly has a seahorse-like image on it, with the head and the rounded chest. Not just that, the face looks specifically like the one you got on the stepping stone. And the eye across the street well that's something. This is a very "high resolution" synchronicity.
I think it's possible that rather than you not having heeded the first one, it was actually the attention you paid to it by photographing it and showing it to your friends, that may have brought about the second event, which was much sharper and louder as you say.
Similarly in the Eye thread, when I paid attention to the first eyeball crop circle in Italy, which was relatively basic by crop circle standards, it may have played a part in the later formation, also in Italy, that had a much more sophisticated, "high-res" design involving eyes.
A random choice

Last night I attended and presented at my first Evolver spore meeting, in Toronto. I projected images from my laptop and talked about crop circles, Norway spiral, synchronicities and things that have happened through this network. I talked about our weekly symbols and what they have resulted in so far.
After me a guy called Paul Mercurius had a copy of Jung's Red Book and drew some parallels between Jung's paintings and crop circles. Then he had everyone sit in a circle, 11 of us. He had crop circle graphics printed out on a whole bunch of cards. We meditated for a while and then picked a card at random.
I picked one that I didn't recognize - it was a spiral unrolling into a wavy line that went around 3 circles and ended up at a large circle. Nothing too fancy. Mark, who had made the graphics, explained to me that it was brand new and had been discovered in Russia on July 18, two days previous.
After a while I noticed that it took the basic body shape of a seahorse, with the large circle representing the head, followed by the first curve as the neck, the second curve as the chest, then the lower body and the spiral tail. I had ended my presentation with a picture of a seahorse, saying it was our next weekly symbol but had been quiet so far compared to the other ones.
This image is still fairly abstract, but I thought it was worth pointing out, due to the way I found it and how recently it had appeared in the fields, just a few days after this topic was started.

The trinity is a consistently frequent, recurring pattern for me, often appearing with 23's. I think that's why I thought it important to photograph the seahorse plate at center of all three, instead of zooming into it.

John - I had been wondering what might be happening in realtime with crop circles during our discussions. Fascinating. Also, we held our second-ever spore here on Saturday. We watched Suzanne Taylor's "What on Earth" re: crop circle mysteries.
Danielle - Wow! I recognize the seahorse on the stepping stone from an engraving I've seen. Unfortunately, it's been a long time and I can't remember where! That's a doozie.

Glad to hear you love GONG! Flying teapots, take me away to dreamland tonight! But not before I report the following, which came together for me earlier today in relationship to this group and to my off-the-cuff TEAPOT suggestion (did you watch the video, River???)
Last week I made an informal suggestion, after inviting everyone to watch the Gong video in my "EYE" comment, to make the teapot a theme for this week. Well, today I got a comment on my website on an old post entitled Giant Dragonfly Encounter in Eastern Kansas. When I approved the comment, I also went back and read the prior comments on the article, and was linked to a site called Tormance. I read the author's latest post, dated 2 June 2010, and was surprised and rather delighted to see that it was about synchronicity - and here's a screen shot I took with my phone camera of part of his post:
So, not only did I get the seahorse vision this week, in an exclamation-point type of synchronicity, but I also got the teapot showing up in another synchronicity that involved an article ABOUT synchronicity....!

What a segue for an introduction..

I had to get out of bed and am tolerating my super-slow satellite internet connection.. wouldn't sleep with this rolling in my head! Every synchronicity fills me with joy, but some push deeper still into amazement, wonder, awe, and humility.
This is me returning home after a long day at the Summer Solstice parade and festivities on Saturday.
That, attached to the bottom of my shoulder bag, is a teapot.
A teapot that was lying between the sidewalk and the roadway in the grass, winking brightly at me as I walked briskly just ahead of my friends. Without pause, I reached down and scooped it up and kept walking. At the next stop I drained it of rainwater and attached it to my bag - no one remarked upon it. It was when we returned to the car to lighten our loads post-parade when I found myself between the plates and the eye.
I felt I needed to keep it with me, and carried that bag and teapot the rest of the afternoon, my roomie Rowan asking finally, 'so what's with the teapot' and I replied that my dormouse was missing.. And so it came home, and was sitting on the woodstove when Cyndi brought me the seahorse stepping stone.
My eyes are watering with the warmth and light and love these synchronicities evoke. They do that when I laugh ;-D .. thanks John for the perspective on the appearances spiralling into higher resolution with the energy they receive from being acknowledged, appreciated.. I love that!

Danibelle, what a great *series* of snchronicities. Like Danielle I thought the plate with the seahorse shape on it was very, very suggestive of a seahorse, and perhaps was designed by the artist as an abstract seahorse, but with the paint and the glaze the artist didn't want it to run or become distorted so omitted a tight tail spiral. Anyway, it does look almost exactly like the stepping stone (which is an interesting "symbol" in itself...). And then to FIND a teapot on such a special day (and you look so blissful and vibrant and, well, just delicious in that photo!) and in conjunction with the eye and seahorse....Listen to your heart. Any epiphanies? What is the message? That's a private question but I'd love to hear your thoughts on it if you'd like to share. I've always found that synchronicity happens more when we're in synch with our life's purpose...whether we're making a transition into love, a new creative endeavour, making new connections with the cosmos....we are given a sign that's undeniable to say "Hey there! Take note of this! You're on to something!"

Thank you Stace! I've always called them my signposts.. when I encounter synchronicity, I instantly ground now, and become more Aware of my surroundings, changes I'm contemplating, statements of intention I've made recently..
The series of synchronicities that led me to this site for example, to meeting each of you here... Significant. Momentous.. WOW. I mean, way to deliver.. I even won an iPad in the process too (which I had stated aloud I was going to get, under completely different circumstances)!
You described it beautifully.. the synchronicities are increasing precipitously, at a rate that coincides with conscious shifts I am now undertaking. Acquiring the wooded land that I now occupy, connecting and bonding with travellers, kindreds, those in need, our neglected elders and youth, and finding them in tune with the vision and dreams I have of cultivating and tending this place, of holding the space for others to rest, reconnect and draw energy for their own life's purpose .. natural space to teach, learn, share, grow, support each other in and with our purposeful passions.. these are my intentions, and they become easier and easier the more confident *I* become.

The 111 is truly delightful, so near to 11:11. I have two sisters, one of whom is exactly 7 years and 7 days younger than me. The three of us, in 1983 all celebrated our 'star birthday', with middle sis Dori turning 13 on 2/13, little Deanna turning 7 on 9/7, followed by my 14th on 9/14.
I hadn't read this message yet this morning when my friend Rowan shared with me the exciting news that she received a call out of the blue last night from an old, long lost, high school friend - the only other person she has ever known to share HER birthday ; ) And at a time when she most needed.. someone.
So fun to share.. I've always been a cheerful, grateful spirit, guided by my intuition and 'little voice'.. recently that too is kicking up into 'high res'. Exciting!
Chopsticks

Today at work towards the end of the day, I came across a magazine on a coffee table that had a big eye on the cover. I picked it up and flipped through it. I came across the same image that was used on the cover, and at that moment a guy a few feet away from me in a conversation said "Keeping my eyes open."
At home a couple hours later, my daughter opened a drawer to get a straw for her drink. She said "Hey, seahorse chopsticks! They weren't there before. Where did they come from?"
I stared and said "Uhhh...I don't know."
Later I asked my wife about them, and she said she had found them while cleaning out the basement a few days ago.
We are lucid dreaming.

I had a startling, nearly instantaneous synch a few seconds after reading this page about seahorses--the very next click was upon a comment from the comment dashboard where I check for SPAM. I usually only click on comments that look like SPAM (so I can zap them) and this one didn't look like that, but it did grab my attention and so I clicked.
The first words that jumped out at me were "Odyssey House" which I read as Sea Horse.

What i'm seeing

To explain what I'm seeing here - The three protruding triangles look like seahorse heads to me, with an eye on each side. Note in the seahorse photo, there is a downward triangle between the eyes (called the "eye spine", I have learned) that is reflected in the crop art. I won't call it a certainly in terms of being a seahorse, but if you see it in combination with the crazy events of the last 2-3 days it seems linked.

I have limited exposure to crop circles prior to joining this group.. this one has my spine ALL atingle. Now sidelining most of my work for the day to edumacate myself on it!
I read the page with the English translation of the crop circle in the UK - http://altnett.ning.com/profiles/blogs/on-may-22-a-crop-circle (linked from someone's profile on here : ) ..continuing on I've researched the Grand Cross.. and am absolutely ecstatic to see it coincides with our women's solstice camp this weekend, which has been a long-standing tradition on this calendar date. So many of us will be in circle for healing, love and JOY Saturday at the rise of the full moon, and get this:
The Grand Cross occurs at 4:30 AM on Sunday... this is the time of morning that for the last week, my cat has been insistently waking me, touching and sniffing my face starting first at 4:15, last Saturday.. it was 4:23 this morning.

Dani >~_^< - I've been waking at 4:20/30am for the past two days also, and maybe longer (except I didn't make note of it and went back to sleep). This morning I woke full up at 4:20am, which is exceedingly strange for me. I am loathe to waste even a wink of my precious, delicious sleep. This is an interesting connection. I've been studying the opening grand cross this Saturday/Sunday (and it's permutations throughout the summer). It's a very big deal, astrologically.
I'm glad you caught the Windmill circle post. I'm going to start a thread later this evening titled "Golden Ratio" where we can discuss the May 22nd Windmill circle "translation" and a new circle translation, which John just made me aware of earlier today on our Google Wave experiment. It's from June 21st (the solstice) and clearly encodes phi, or 1.61803399, the "golden ratio".
John - do you know how many of the circle formations have been "translated" to date? I'm wondering if meaningful communication is a new phenomenon. It's new to me, but I haven't been following them closely over time.

First time I've felt one and been in Toronto my whole life. Only reason I felt it is because I'm on the upper floor of a building. People on the ground didn't feel it. The G8 is going on a few blocks from here and it must have got a few security people to wake up.
But the bigger story is that crop circle, me think.

Seahorses, Eyes, Teapots and Birthdays and Chopsticks and Earthquakes, Oh my! I didn't know they even had earthquakes in Canada. I also didn't tell y'all about the big storms with tornadoes we had last week, with double rainbows following each one. The home I've been installing a kitchen in these past two weeks has a photograph of a double rainbow hanging on the wall as I walk in from the garage. I see it five or ten times a day. I keep thinking there must be a seahorse in this house somewhere, but no. Nothing yet. Can you tell more about this crop circle, John?

I just read your amazing post, River about the Golden Ratio. To everyone here .. please read it as it is the start of yet another great journey with stories within stories that seem to be happening within this group.
Anyway in the post you Call this Group "The Collective Unconscious Project by the Acronym "T-CUP" which I had not heard before nor had I thought of it.
Well isn't it just lovely that both Quanta and Danibelle have both brought Teapots and Kettles into this world of synchronicity that we are building together?
Thank you everybody, I am having a great time here. It is so wonderful to to hear everyones stories and see how people are finding connections to the little things and the really big things in life.
I feel that I have not seen such big connections with this seahorse image but as I said before I have been doing all the things this week that keep me disconnected from the way of life that keep me in the synchronistic flow. Today I will make some changes and see where I end up.

a bit late on the uptake here, but... i ended up going to a random bbq last night, totally unexpectedly, with one of my dear friends. i've been having some social anxiety as of late, but decided that i needed to start taking some risks, beginning this weekend. i knew no one else there, but everyone was truly amazing and we ended up having hours of fantastic conversation. at one point, i heard someone complimenting the salt and pepper shakers. lo and behold, they were indeed turquoise (colored) sea horses.

Also really interesting that this happened a few days after you found the thread and decided to start drawing searhorses to connect with the image.
And noticable are the turquoise colour of the shakers and the blue colour of the chopsticks - blue/green/turquoise seems to play a big part in whatever is going on lately and I probably will start a thread about that.
Also, this was the first synchronicity to occur after the crop circle one that I posted, which was followed a couple minutes later by an earthquake. Note - shaker/earthquake.

..once said something about synchronicities being more prolific the more clever you are to tie them together. Almost as if we are all challenging each other to step up our games collectively AND individually.
At my camping weekend I discovered that the mini propane tank for my coffee had been left behind. On my quest to beg one I met a wonderful elder named Blue, instant connection, she had a spare. I also spent all weekend looking for 'Soaring Eagle Woman', from whose tent I purchased two lovely handmade rattles via the honor system basket and wanted to meet their creator. Finally, when they were taking down the market tents, I walked up and asked which of them was Soaring Eagle Woman - and it was Blue!
One of the rattles has Silver Fox fur, which I selected because Silver Fox, not usually one of my spirit guides, came to me in my visionquest during the sweatlodge. The other rattle is heart-shaped, and covered in beautiful, soft deep blue suede (just like the chopsticks). On the back of the tag was written BLUE = TRUTH.

And the shirt I have on today. I have been looking for the past 15 minutes through our previous posts for the part of this conversation where we were discussing waking up at 4:30 in the morning. I found it finally by searching for "unconscious 4:30." It was actually just a few bars up from here. Anyway, Saturday was an ultra special and ultra busy day. I met three more people in 2 different contexts who told me they had been unexpectedly waking up at 4:30 in the morning. At an all-day permaculture workshop here in Bloomington and again at the full moon ceremony 20 minutes South at Lothlorien, I spoke with three people who simply volunteered this information. Long time Night Owls waking up way too early. Oh! and an owl flew just a couple feet over my truck as I headed back home Saturday night. It gave me shivers. Our local ceremony was a trip into the underworld to find animal spirit guides for six people. Yip yips meet the telephone is one of my favorite YouTube videos. Seahorses... hmm.

I'm not sure why this statement is made exactly, but interesting to hear it.

I'm currently reading the book that fell out of the waterfall thread. On p. 107, In a section the author calls 'Welcome to the Hippocampus, the College of Memories,' I got the tingle of synchronicity from these lines:
"Hidden inside the brain's outer cortex, tucked under the inner wall of the temporal lobe -- which looks like the thumb of a baseball catcher's mit when the brain is seen from the left side -- lie the hippocampus, the amygdala, and the mammilary bodies.
The hippocampus is so named because it resembles the small marine sea horse (Hippocampus is the Greek word for 'sea horse')."
