Has anybody here played "Braid" or "Limbo"? It excites me that games are coming full circle, in a way, the independents no longer having to rely on the current generation of consoles to make a profit. Hell, the guy behind "Bejeweled 2" is a billionaire.
In that way, it feels like the entire palate of game creation is becoming more defined, and we're coming closer to experiencing gaming as a pure art form. Talks with fellow artists always lead to our current generation's expression of "nostalgia," that right now we're all about "back then," or what we experienced as a youth, etc. This comes out in Sonic's return to 2D gaming, "New Super Mario Bros.," and even completely NEW games of retro Mega Man and Castlevania. And they're selling!
This means that someone can ideally travel back through generations and make whatever style game they want with the potential of becoming successful. This is seen in music, paintings and movies already. The gaming market is open, and that's exciting for the passionate artists and visionaries out there.
Anybody have any game ideas they'd love to see happen?
