Deep Future

We are all quite familiar with the many near-term apocalypse scenarios which dominate in our culture; for example, depending on your demographic, Armageddon and the Rapture, 2012, Eco-Collapse, comets and asteroids and nuclear war, grey-goo or biotech disasters, Blade Runner, robot armageddon and Terminator...

I submit that we need visions of healthy and prosperous futures to be able to move in that direction, and not let our imaginations be paralysed by near-term fears.

Let's for example posit that 100 years from now, humanity, still numbering in the billions, is in a steady-state relationship with a healthy and vigorous biosphere.

I ask you to imagine how we would be living, to visualize how it works, how we did it, what we do with ourselves in this balanced, sustainable world, and what we dream of doing in the further future.
