I am an ordinary person and like many other ordinary people, I have had a unique and extraordinary life - and hopefully there are more extraordinary things to come. When I was in my teens and twenties, I never knew what I wanted to do with my life, had only vague and unfulfilled ambitions, feared many things and stunted my own personal development by holding onto that fear. Yet I knew there was something ...
And when you don't know what you want, life has a way of giving you what you need. It gave me a disabled child, now adult, and with it many lessons to learn: patience, understanding, acceptance, supporting others, self-confidence, a worldwide circle of people who I would never have met in any other circumstances - and much more. I would not wish anyone to be disabled in any way, but the lessons of living and working with disability are profound. In some religions, it is thought that disabled people are more evolved beings who come back to earth as teachers. If that is so - and I hope it is - then my teacher has been an exceptional one and my thanks go to her.
I hope in this group others who have gone some way through this life on earth will share there own experiences and thoughts on what unexpected turns have happened and perhaps to show that anything can be turned to good account if the will is there.
