Xochiquetzal, Flower-Feather.
Xochiquetzal is the goddess of Flower and Song
and goddess of the arts.
Chalchihuihtotolin, the Jewelled Fowl,
Tezcatlipoca's nagual.
Chalchihuihtotolin is a symbol of powerful sorcery
Itzpapalotl is the Obsidian Butterfly,
the Feminine Warrior
Tlazolteotl, the Earth Goddess. She is goddess
of the Ritual Cleansing, and of the human fertility.
Tlazolteotl is associated with the moon.
Tlazolteotl, in her incarnation as Teteoinnan,
Mother of the Gods, is protector of the midwives,
doctor women and of those who tell fortune.
Mayahuel is the goddess of the maguey plant and of fertility.
Protector of mature wombs that turn into life. Mayahuel has many breasts
to feed her many children, the Centzon Totochin (the 400 Rabbits).
These are thought to be responsible for causing drunkenness.
The maguey plant is used to brew the alcoholic drink pulque (octli).
The ancient Aztec priests used the spines of the plant for autosacrifice. Mayahuel is the wife of Patecatl.
Chalchihuitlicue, whose night-robe of jewel-stars whirls above,
Lady of the Maintenance.
She is the goddess of lakes, rivers and sea
the goddess of horizontal waters.
