I am used to vivid dreams, being somewhat of a habitual dreamer, and I also lucid occasionally. The other night I was staying at a friend's house after being abandoned by the promise of the bus timetable. On the morning, I false awoke, in shock, to find myself being dragged off the couch in my covers and summarily swung around the room in them, with full centripedal effect and commensurate breaking of bottles and innocent furniture. When the invasive peace invader left (stopped, vanished etc) I jogged through to my friends room to ask him if he had any experience or witnessing of what had just happened to me.
I entered his room and was confronted with 4 guys sitting together, none of which I knew (I often dream of strangers who seem more real, and individual, in that they have personalities, than the dream characters of people I know). One of them returned with me to the living room to check it out. As always in such vivid dreams, the room was still replete with detail, smashed up furniture, fish tanks (which i was worried i was going to end up in whist i was being hurled around), and a number of bright quilts, which upon seeing, I recognised were not the typical covers on the sofa that I was used to....I awoke and was unnerved.
I describe this dream in full, but what stood out for me and what I want to share, was the sense of extreme physical movement and inertia, particularly that of the dragging and rotation and its rapidity. This sensation has been increasing in my dreams lately; for example I had one dream where my energetic dream self spun itself into a votex and wooshed (for want of a better word) upward into what felt like a transcendence.
Anyone else having similar experiences?

Spirals
I continue to be amazed at how synchronized this forum is. A few weeks ago I dreamt of a giant cloud in the sky with UFOs flying around etc, similar to reports from Pathfinder, Jennifer Palmer and more. In my variation, the cloud contained two circles side by side, one rotating clockwise, the other counter-clockwise.
I recently started reading a collection of Jung's work called Mandala Symbolism which of course I found in a used book store. Just two days ago I read a part where he suggests that a counter-clockwise movement "indicates movement toward the unconscious, while a clockwise movement goes towards consciousness. The one is 'sinister', the other 'right', 'rightful', 'correct'."
The number 4 is highly significant according to Jung and has played into other dreams in this forum. Mandalas represent the totality of self and are generally divided info four. In this book he explores one patients mandala paintings, one of which is made of four symetrically placed spiralling patterns. There is a reproduction of a neolithic relief also with four spirals placed symetrically.
The cloud seems to be symbolic of the endless feedback between conscious and unconscious. This is also seen in Pathfinder's dream where the hummingbirds of light fly back and forth between the cloud and earth.
In Whitley Streiber's Communion he is instructed by the visitors to build a device made of counter-rotating magnets. The legendary fairy dance is a rotating circle.
OK I'm going on enough....were you spinning clockwise or counterclockwise?
movement in dreams, and sleeping in dreams
I've experienced a sense of motion while apparently sleeping, but not quite the merry-go-round effect that you describe (at least that's how I "feel" your dream). In one particular recurrent dream as a child, for instance, I was in an egg rolling down the hay inside a hayloft toward a hole in the floor, and then I fell through and woke up just before hitting the ground, with a woozy feeling in my stomach. I don't get the sense of movement in dreams so much now. I get electronic sounds and lights now and then - but that's less like dreaming and more like interaction with some other intelligence. And psychic dreams - not all the time, but more frequent than in the past.
And once about 15 years ago I had a strange encounter with something "veiled" at my bedside, looking rather like sunlight glistening through waves in a swimming pool. I was in an altered state and didn't move until I found myself instantly sitting up in bed as soon as the shimmering presence disappeared. The next morning my daughter, who was about 6, woke up beside me and said, "I had a dream there was a man in the room last night." She squinted and added, "I was trying to keep my eyes closed so he wouldn't know I saw him." Double-witness encounter scenario, I'd say. How often does one dream of waking up in bed?
And electrical dreams...I suppose that's the theme for a whole other discussion.

I myself would probably take a different approach on the spinning clockwise and counter clockwise.. I would look at it from and earth perspective.. the polarities that runs through the center of the earth. One comes up and flows out the North pole, makes our toliet circle spin one direction, and the other flows towards the south pole, which I've been told makes the toliet flow spin in the opposite direction...... so to me the direction of the spin would have more to do with yin yang... without judgement, just different...
heheh, and I dream of waking up in bed, in my house, answering the door, getting the mail..... and trying to travel through electrical storms (well for some reason when I am dreaming and an electrical storm is passing over my sleeping body, I always think I have to hurry up and get back into my body... Oh and dreams of being in a spiral energy, after going to class... In that one, I was curious and stepped out of the spiral to see that I was in class on another planet and was now riding a spiral wave of energy back to this planet..
And one other, dreams of traveling some place and discovering the police were looking for me... many times, I hid from them, running, running away. Then one time I thought, "well I think I will just turn myself into them and see what happens.. so I said, "Hey, here I am" and they said, "Oh we have been looking for you all over the place." They explained that the (translates to king or ruler of that domain) had known that I was coming and he had sent them to pick me up and act as my escort through his dominion.. They took me to his castle, and as we walked up the stairs everything stretched out.. I got taller and taller (like Lemuria tall) ... after that the dream got very interesting...
DNA comes to mind.. for some reason.. which spirals...
and sometimes other people, usually Indians in my case, come to my dream time...
Haven't had spiral dreams here of late.. that I remember.. but then I am working on teleporting in my dream time here lately....

here we are inside the dance of our creation.
Direction of rotational notation
That would depend on the perspective of any viewer, from above i would be perceived to rotating clockwise, from below anti-clockwise. From my own personal persepctive the presence was hurling me from North - East - South etc. in the horizontal (relative to Terrra chortle) plane.
In the dream where I diffused post vortex, I really can't recall the direction, it seem less unimportant than the sense of the physical centrifuging ,and with a final upwards rush, into nothing/everythingness.
I often have false awakenings, sometimes several in a row, and by nature they are extremely vivid. I find that if I slip into the Death posture upon first awakening, subsequent dreams are more likely to be vivid and ideally lucid, but also with increased occurences of sleep paralysis (http://www.guardian.co.uk/science/2009/oct/02/sleep-paralysis) thankfully very uncommon for me and false awakenings often with visitation.
Just this very morning I false awoke to the presence of my mother coming in to my room. She hadn't. Maybe something had, who knows.
You are not alone...
The science on this is so fresh that I can't take it concrete, but this should spike your interest:

Mystery as spiral blue light display hovers above Norway
Not long after this discussion, I was reading P.M.H. Atwater's book Coming Back to Life where she describes a near death experience in which she saw two massive cyclones, one rotating clockwise, the other counter-clockwise. Where they connected was an explosion of light. She could see herself and all other people in the upper cyclone and also repeated in the lower cyclone.
A massive spiral appeared in the sky over Norway yesterday. It sent out a blue spiral from its center towards the ground.

Kluver Form Constants?
I had a near death experience and i saw the "Kluver Form constants" The wheel of symmetry of your DNA compressing at the moment of death. The ordering being lattice grid, cobweb, tunnel, spiral. I kept going to the spiral and somehow..not completing it. Maybe thats why i came back? Well here is pictures of it: http://www.goldenmean.info/zaragoza/powerpoints/phaseconjugation.html_fi...
And the main article explaining more about the alchemy of death: http://www.goldenmean.info/alchemyofdeath/
Now what this has to do with the spirals over Norway? Not sure....but it makes me glad iv been studying spiral dynamics;)
