Why I Like Low Frequencies

"Bass waves rather than high frequency sounds. Bass permeates through your body, binding you to the music, allowing you to become part of its rhythm and soul" - Random youtube guy
One of my friend had linked me to a ritual healing sound video, of a spiritual leader producing low growly sounds with really low frequencies with his voice. It was an awesome video. I haven't looked into this in much detail, but I don't know, if anyone can add if low frequencies play a part in ..something? D: I don't even know what I mean.
In the mean time. Enjoys the attatchments :)
To aid future ponderers (is thats a word?) of bass. These tracks will set you on fire.
[A side note: you will truly experience what I'm on about with good speakers with bass, or equally good headphones]
1. Skream vs Hijak - Babylon Timewarp:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UgPPz8Cjxg0
This is a truly soothing track, not heavy at all. This makes me thinks of skating on clouds.
2. Lets kick this up alot, Excision - Hypothermic:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dqMv6cBbWH0
Wait until the drop. This is so heavy, need I say more?
3. Next we have, Chasing Shadows - Amirah
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=840yxdrTx1k
Ooooooft. I rekon this wills be a favourite for many.
4. Last but not least, DatsiK - Jenova Project
http://www.youtube.com/user/Navstep#p/c/748B850E63C188F9/40/cq9D1z8EsgY
DatsiK is on fire right now, him and Excision are my absolute favourites. You'd be suprised how awesome the Canadian scene for Dubstep is right now, weird, seeing as Dubstep originated in Croydon (UK).
Bass.

datsik and excision are
datsik and excision are stand up dudes too. i chatted with them for a bit at South By South West in Austin Texas this year. They tore it up too. Had the whole place vibing together.
Low Frequencies in music are somewhat relatively new. If you go back to songs even in the 80's, the kick and bass is more low mid, I think we can thank the west coast for the BOOM. I believe it was Hip Hop that got us raising the bass level.
I always try and get to "that spot" in the club, you know, where all the bass sound happens to congregate to after its bounced everywhere.
I do know that ELF's, Extra-Low Frequencies can be detremental to the Human Body and psyche. Worth a look...
Thanks for the tunes. Have you happened to ever hear of, PrettyLightsMusic.com? if not, you are definitely missing out...
:)
:O OH MY GOD! You chatted with them! Merhhhhh I'd never get to meet them, I live in England D: However, I REALLY want to go to this festival in Canada where Excision does his yearly 2 hour long mix. Hmmm, I will post something about that sometime soon. Oh, oh my, I DO know that spot. Okay that sounded weird. But I know what you mean!
Hmmm, I will take a look at extra-low frequencies sometime soon, sounds interesting.
I will definitely check out that website! Cheers :)

I've been to that festival for 09 and 10, it's definitely worth going to..even if you live overseas. A 5 day gathering in the mountains of Canada is hard to beat. Excision is nowhere near the best act there though. Check out these guys:

Sub bass ahoy!
don't forget METAL
Ohhhhhhhhhhhh. Not usually
Ohhhhhhhhhhhh. Not usually the inda thing I'd listen to, but I really like that :) For some reason I've noiced alot of people who comment on Dubstep videos saying that some of the tunes sound like some metal songs. I'm not sure what thats about hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
its the room between the
its the room between the kick and snare for the use of "double pedal" like bass drum and the use of the saw bass sine wave, kinda sounds like a distorted guitar. i also see the resemblence between the two in the way that some metal doesnt progress as far as three to four notes. i hear alot of dubstep that doesnt really have melody or progression. Then again i also hear amazing metal and amazing dubtep. I really cant wait to see what the future holds for this music, so much has been done already, so quickly.
as long as we are throwing around our own tunes, here is my two cents - - - - - -
Tunes by Lo-Phi
its not so much dubstep but you know...
Oh don't you worry, It's not
Oh don't you worry, It's not ALL about Dubstep, it's about bass and FEELING the music. I feel Lo-Phi man, the first one is SO AWESOME, I ain't gonna have many neighbours left after this :D Oh I also REALLY like Looking Through the Hour Glass of Time!
Thats pretty awesome Dude. I like :)

Well Thanks. Put alot of
Well Thanks. Put alot of time into it, they are all still works in progress. I appreciate the listen sincerely. And Neighbors will be neighbors, trust that.
KINDA. I can sort out some clips to show you what i mean. Not suprising to me that ALOT of dubstep producers are/have been drummers in metal bands.
this isnt metal-esque but its become one of my favorite mixes. Smoothness. its pretty flawless in tune selection and mix.

Low-Frequency Artists
Hey guys, awesome topic! This is my first post as a new member of Evolver and I'm glad it could be on this subject. I've noticed that metal has been noted on this thread, and over the past decade some particularly incredible artists from this genre have been pushing the boundaries of low frequency music, particularly Earth and Sunn O))), who are generally labeled as "drone metal." If you like low, heavy bass music you should definitely check them out. Crank up the volume (seriously, it moves through you) and enjoy. Cheers! :)
