BLOOM'S SPORE: Irish Alien's and Mingus

HI, this Wednesday I will be participating in a non-local evolver ‘Spore’: an open invitation to get together with like-minded individuals to celebrate ‘Bloomsday’ 2010.

In resonance with this month’s evolver spore theme of ‘Aliens among us’ I will look into themes of alienation within Joyce's ‘Ulysses’ and transpose some questions to Joyce’s experience as an artist in exile.

You can either join me at my home on the evening of the 16th, around 8.00 PM. Or stay in your own home. Maybe go out somewhere else alltogether and read a little Joyce, take a photograph, or make some kind of audio recording, maybe pick up a leaf, a seed or a stone that you encounter.

We will be listening to a collection of music by Charles Mingus, Sun Ra and his Arkestra, Alice Coltrane, George Clinton, John Coltrane, Cosmic Jokers. I hope to play parts from the classic Orson Welles radio broadcast 'War Of the Worlds'.
