Wow!

Hi Asheville! You don't say! A girl chasing frogs from the Asheville Farmer's Market model for our 80 as yet undefined County inter-urban, city-mixed Acres... Hi! is just enough of a word of introduction for now. Where did you come from?

from the Midwest

I moved from Illinois in June. I have been a member of Evolver for a little while, although not very active, and I joined after the Asheville group was no longer meeting. But, I decided to step up, and here I am. : )
You are in Indiana looks like?

Thanks for reviving this

I'd be interested in discussing this list of emerging efforts (from my blog):

emerging efforts

Sounds great! Sounds like great stuff.

I would especially like to hear your thoughts about how all this stuff can tie together, including how best these efforts can be created and mobilized at the local level.

I invite you to join this group on FB, too (Evolver Asheville), and introduce yourself on there as well (as some people will be more likely to go there not here). Then, by all means, please start up a dialogue either as a blog entry on Evolver in general, here on Evolver Asheville, or on FB Evolver Asheville. I look forward to reading your thoughts.

Nice "meeting" you!

Discussions

And, that goes for everybody! If you have something you would like to see a discussion about, please start one! Self-promotion is great, too. We are here to network and share cool ideas so let's definitely open up the topics we find most interesting!

I guess the only limits (besides no offering illegal services, etc) is please keep it respectful. We can even disagree openly about stuff (which makes for interesting conversation) without resorting to personal attacks. We are in this together, so civility is a good thing.

In person get-together?

Hi-
Do we have a set time of meeting, all on the same day globally? Monthly "spores" or some such? If not, I'd like to set a time & place to converge in person.

YES

The plan is, we will start meeting monthly in May and will do monthly themes based on the overall Evolver Spores. Sorry... I'm still working on sorting out the actual details, but I will announce the details of our May spore shortly. : )

I think that once we really get rolling with our regular monthly spores, it would be also fun to add other events as well.

In the meantime, I still think it would be great to have some online discussions going about any topics people find interesting.

Indiana, yes

Well I'm pleased to meet you! Asheville has been on my mind of late because the farmer's market there has been proposed as a model for a new year round market which is still in the tiniest idea phase here in Bloomington. And I just happened to be thinking about that when I saw your announcement. It was a surprising coincidence! I haven't spent much time online in the past few months, but as soon as I turn my attention to Evolver, the synchronicity steps up. I also will not be surprised if a new spore begins here after Jonathan's visit tomorrow!

Merrily met,
River

P.S. Jim - You must have posted at the same time as me. Interesting that your blog is about Transition. That's what I've been up to here as well! Our Unleashing is only two weeks away.

Yay, synchronicity!

Cool. Well, if you ever are in the Asheville area, look us up. Hope your visit with Jonathan goes well, and your projects have lots of success. Keep me posted, if you'd like.

Greetings!

Hello Asheville!

I'm very new to this site, and just wanted to say hi to all of the great people of this city
I'm a student at unc asheville and am wondering if there is any existing relation between the evolver community and that of unca, as I think that great potential exists between the two...

Also, I see that there has been talk of monthly meetings that will be starting in may-
What exactly is the nature of these get-togethers?

I am not aware of any

I am not aware of any connection between the evolver community and unca, although I'm sure you are right that there is some great potential. Do you know of specific unca groups that would be compatible?

Yes, there are to be monthly meetings.. the exact nature of which is on the evolver home page. May's event will be on community resiliance. Topics range all over the board, from woo-woo to practical topics.

At some point, once this group gets some real momentum, there could be the potential for more events besides the regular Evolver.net spores. We could do events on anything that the group was interested in, including community service, etc. If you could see meetings on anything, what would they be?
