Thank you for all who came to the first Spore! I think it was a tremendous success and we all look forward to the future ones! Below is the notes I took from this event. Feel free to continue the discussion on this page:
At the beginning of the event, we had 32 people. By the end, there were 45.
What people want to see from future Evolver events, spores, and from the Evolver Atlanta group in general:
Each Spore can have a project to work on.
One particular project can be a land fill project where everyone can buy these life boxes, as seen on the mushrooms video. We take these to a landfill and germinate them in an effort to remove toxic waste, transforming it into a flourishing ecosystem.
We can have a Spore devoted to different videos. A public youtube event if you will. We will give a set amount of time where people can come, present some info and show a youtube along with it. A good way to sift through large amounts of info on the net, to just the quality stuff.
Teaming up with local schools to do workshops. Teach the younger generation.
6 ways to transform your house for under $100. Simple eco/green solutions to better your life and the environment. Trade ideas.
Simply have fun events. Nothing too serious. Get to know the Evolver community better, have potlucks, go on a camping trip, whitewater rafting, etc... Once people get to know one another better, conversations will naturally lead to whats important. Keeping it light.
Use the Evolver forum to volunteer in the community. Once a month, decide on an organization to collectively donate our time and effort to. (People also want to buy tshirts so we can all wear them while volunteering).
Use a barter system within the Evolver community with people trading hours of work for eachother. www.atlantatimebank.org
We can also have community accounts for timeshare, so Evolver Atlanta can build up hours.
Have conscious music involved with our group. That will draw a totally seperate crowd.
Magic Mountain - raise your own exotic mushrooms.
Doing a fundraiser for Nassim
Check out C-Realm Podcast
Re-evaluation counseling - peer to peer counseling to regain ability to think flexibly and not get stuck in patterns. Possibility of doing that for an event.
Use Evolver.net during meetings/spores more. People can prepare projects or blogs to better reference them when they want to get up and present something. That way, we can just pull up that particular page.
Zach offered The Hearth as a meeting space.
Dr. Dave and aquaponics as a future workshop.
Sunday morning meditation at The Hearth
Involve children in more events to get parents more willing to participate.
Have events sub-categorized in Evolver.net, to better find what you want.
Have an opening and closing intention for every Spore.
