I just finished reading the article on page 32. It is their "Dharma Talk" section and the article is, "the three things we fear most" by Ezra Bayda.

The article is amazing and spoke very deeply to me. I did not realize how much I didn't understand my fears as a part of my existence that should be embraced and understood from my heart rather than avoided in my brain. I have been ruled by thoughts on fear rather than releasing my thoughts to understand fear from the essence of it as a feeling... emotion... part of existence that is not itself negative but is mistakenly thought of in that way.

I invite anybody that reads this and happened to grab that Magazine at the fest to read the article and meet with me here...

Buddhism in Atlanta

I did not realize that Tricycle magazines were being given away at the festival, but I have noticed that Buddhism is a popular topic for Evolvers. Here in Atlanta, we are fortunate to have many local resources for learning about and practicing Buddhism. Emory University has a department devoted to the study of Tibetan Buddhism and the Dalai Lama is an honorary department head. The University promotes Tibetan cultural events, and puts on a week-long celebration once a year dubbed, 'Tibet Week'.

There is a local monastery that offers free classes and meditations throughout the week and welcomes newcomers to the teachings. The monastery is called Drepung Loseling, and they have a website at www.drepung.org. I have attended a teaching on Tuesday evening, and a meditation on Sunday morning, and have been really impressed by the organization. There is a pot-luck dinner and celebration planned for July 5th, in recognition of the Dalai Lama's 73rd Birthday, and all are invited to bring a dish and celebrate with other patrons and monks of the monastery. The outdoor event will be held at the monastery from 12pm-3pm, and more information can be found at the website.

I am excited to see a growing community of Buddhist supporters here at Evolver, and I look forward to connecting with each other in the weeks and months ahead.
