Andrew here in Sharbot Lake, just 100 km or so sw of you. Saw you here.
We had a "Futures Conversation" last night at our place that went really well., pretty much a first You might want to do something like it. Or at least, I'm encouraging you to put it out in the community.
Below is part of the email I sent around. We had a lively two hour meeting and then tea / coffee and snack. Several things around more community came up during the "tea," several of which I think will happen. Our meetings will be the second Sunday of each month.

Future's Conversation
A monthly group to explore the uncertain future
Background: Pressures resulting from peak oil, climate change, resource depletion, economic downturn or collapse are likely to mean a more local and interconnected future
The Purpose: to help us be be more resourceful, resilient, and supported in this time of change and transformation. We hope to make a difference to ourselves and be catalysts for positive change. We're on the lookout for something new and unexpected to emerge, not more of what we already know. On that note . . .
This isn't the place to focus on what's wrong with the world "out there" or to convince others of our preferred solution. We're looking for deeper connections and emerging possibilities, how changes are affecting us and how we're responding.
Format: Introductions, guidelines, short quote, video or audio about the future that we'll use as a launching pad. We'll structure the meeting so that everyone has a chance to be well heard without being interrupted. There'll be a chance to share both feelings and thoughts, and future plans (if any) around meeting the future with greater strength and integrity. At the end we'll review how the format works and what changes might be needed. Andrew will facilitate the first few meetings till we get an agreed on format.
