Evolver Spore: Day of Action

This month's spore theme is "Direct Action". We will be... coordinating our meeting-picnic-event with a volunteer work day at the Bloomington Community Orchard which runs from 9am until 2pm. The Orchard is located across the street from the YMCA on S. Highland Ave. See the Bloomington Community Orchard website for information regarding this amazing community endeavor and the volunteer work day they will be hosting this Saturday. Bring a shovel, a pitchfork, or a wheelbarrow!

We hope you come hungry as we will be providing delicious, healthy food for everyone to enjoy in a picnic like setting. Our Spore begins at 2pm right after the Orchard workday concludes. We've invited organizers from the Bloomington Community Orchard to tell their stories about how and why they became involved, what it means, where it's headed and how we can spread the vibe.

Three of us from Bloomington attended the Evolver Regional Summit in rural New York on Aug 6th through Aug 9th. We will be sharing some of the excitement and vision generated at the little retreat center called Heartland. We can also discuss the history, vision, mission, and possible community actions of our local Evolver group.

Hope to see you there!

And don't forget to vote for our Orchard everyday between now and Sept. 10 in the Tom's of Maine online campaign. We're in the running for a $20,000 grant which will be key to getting this project in the ground. Spread the word!

Also, if you can make it to Fee lane and the 46 bypass from 4-6pm today Aug. 20th, we will be joining the Na'avi protest against the INDOT Juggernaut which is ripping up over 500 trees, wasting huge amounts of money widening a road under an obsolete vision, and ignoring much better solutions which have been proposed by our community.

See http://www.b-top.org/ for more info.

Hope to see you there too!
