5 or 6 initially - Conor, Aubre, Jonathan, Mark, River, Losang Monlam

How many people showed up?
Hard to tell because it was getting dark and already putting its random on when we arrived. (No email addresses collected. Please give that aspect lots of elf-time to trickle in as it wishes). [est. 30-40 people in full-moon ritual circle. 6 Evolvers. 70-100 at witches ball by the next day? Words spread organically.

What did you do?
We talked amongst ourselves about ideas for a few weeks beforehand at Soma coffeehouse on Mondays as we often do, then contacted and talked to the potential others involved. Then we just caravaned there, introduced ourselves to the people and the place, had a picnic with Lucy (who has recently finished a book about Lothlorien which it just so seems her publisher would like her to promote at Burning Man 2011), and then...

What themes came up?
{River’s and Jonathan’s individual recollections, in order of appearance as best we can remember, feel free to edit anything you wish as above or below!}
Caravaning out of town, we blazed through every single stop light. They were all green! So this was a bit of magic to kick off the evening.
We stopped for fuel and peeked at the Harrodsburg Haunted House.
Meanwhile, Hunter’s Full Moon rose orange over Indiana’s dry autumn landscape.
We arrived at LothlĂłrien and walked along the forest trail to where everyone was gathering. We met new people, Bishop among them. Bishop is about to embark on a walkabout and he was very interested in Evolver. He plans to call on Evolver cities as he travels around the country. So watch for Bishop! We noted that many people seem to be feeling the need for a walkabout.
We passed time while listening for the ceremony by swinging from Thunder Dome on the rope swing. A most interesting decor of the dome were the cast iron bathtub altars entrenched in the ground vertically which added a little danger to the swinging. Dusk lay heavily in the woods but the sky still radiated. From the dome we watched fast moving lights in the sky leave chemtrails. We laughed and discussed the nature of reality and about the ‘quickening’ that we all feel is happening.
We picnicked in the Healer’s Gazebo of the Blue Bunny as the moon rose higher. Monlam arrived with his goodies. Lucy joined us. She asked about Evolver and we spread the word. We broke dumpstered bread and sipped wine in the moonlight. Then the drumming started, stirring our blood and lighting our smiles. Walking to the Lightning Shrine, candlelight lit up the streamers of last year’s May pole. Skippy’s emphatic drumming dispelled our minds’ mundane predilections, quickly elevating us into adjacent realms. Jefner and Vic (of Lothlórien) introduced themselves but quickly got down to business. We formed the circle by invoking the elements and their meanings were explained.
Jefner had attended our Spirit of Water Spore in July and reflected on how much of an impact it had on him.
Jefner and Vic explained the ritual’s tools and procedure.
Invocation of Goddess/God, Dark Ones. Hekate/Horned One
Jefner and Vic asked everyone to say some brief words about the personal meaning of magic.
Apples were arranged in a circle in front of us around the maypole. We picked them up and discussed the ancient art of apple magic. Cutting an apple crosswise reveals the five pointed star which corresponds with the five elements. From our circle we held our arms high, apples in hand (photo moment!) and asked the moon to charge them so that we may send healing to those who need it.
We invoked the ancestors.
We wrote their words of wisdom on bits of skull-shaped paper and placed them in a skull bowl, then drew them out one by one and received the ancestor’s advice for us in these troubling times. (River’s? “Take care of your body, YOGA!”)
We shared cake donuts and apple juice and then opened the circle.
Evolvers gathered for a lot of talking-through in a tight small circle in the East quadrant.
We opened space toward the other energies which were starting to move on the land and the magic flowed. Aubre closed her eyes, opened her mind and downloaded the meaning of magic for us.
The idea of getting a Loth bus together for Burning Man 2011 came up.
Now find a campsite that feels comfortable.
Where the heck did they all go?

This event was probably more of an introduction of Lothlorien to Evolver, that it was Evolver to Lothlorien. But it definitely seems to have worked both ways.

Regarding the Lothlorien perspective on the experience, this was a high-energy full-on-weekend and a well attended core gathering without notable disruptive interruptions, which was in itself quite notable.

Two of the people we sent healing energy to by name in Friday’s Full Moon ritual showed up somewhat miraculously of their own volition the next day for Witches Ball.

Did this give you ideas of what might be done for future Spores?
Several Lothlorien attendees knew that the “Evolver people” were coming. Our reputation is beginning to precede us! More than ever I felt the responsibility to represent Evolver accurately, humbly, and in positive light.

And very special Thanks to Vic and Jefner for putting their heart and soul into creating this event and driving it steadfastly into wild hardcore magick.

Any other personal anecdotes?

Jonathan: I really liked Jefner’s style as he led the moon ritual. No pretense in his voice. To me, he is simply an Indiana boy who has fully embraced shamanism, down-to-earth and at the same time astonishing. Vic also did a superb job in stirring up the collective effervescence. Good to hear the main purpose of the ritual was for healing, for the well-being of individuals and the community as a whole. Definitely see Lothlórien as yet another piece for the B-town Evolver puzzle. For me, the ceremonies at the Summit were so powerful. Now I have a place at home for them as well. This aligns well with my intent which is to help (re)open a dialog with nature. Just want to also mention that the Evolver network was invoked during the ceremony adding every one's energies to the conduit which I’m sure goes both directions, for the local as well as global healing that we have all resolved to initiate.
