Evolver Spores: The Spirit of Water

As untold gallons of oil gush into the Gulf, we are sadly reminded of that most vital ingredient to all life on Earth: water. Though it covers almost three quarters of the planet and fills nearly 70% of our own bodies, this precious and seemingly boundless substance is becoming increasingly scarce and imperiled. Reckless damming of rivers, wide-scale pollution, and corporate privatization threaten the free flow of fresh H2O for growing numbers of people around the world.
At the same time, this ephemeral element possesses magical shape-shifting powers, evaporating, condensing, freezing and melting in a flux of physical states. Water summons the lunar, feminine, and intuitive wisdom of consciousness, with our vast oceans granting us a glimmer into the enigma of how this life-giving substance came to our planet in the first place.
This month, join one of our 35 Evolver Regionals as they explore the mystery and history of H2O, the contemporary politics behind today’s “water wars,” and how we can preserve and protect this critical element for future generations.
Fifth World will be performing directly after the Spore from 9-10pm. Fifth World is a psychedlic band fusing elements of funk,acid jazz, hip hop,and electronica.

Hello, I live in Milwaukee and would love to come to a Chicago Spore meeting. However it is not currently possible for me to travel on there Wednesday nights.
Would you ever consider holding a meeting on a Friday or Saturday? Or maybe there is some way for me to technologically join?

The Spores will be on Wed for the duration of 2010 as I also perform afterwards with my band Fifth World. We will be doing a different venue for 2011, however it may still be Wed or Thursday night. We don't have an Evolver chapter in Milwaukee at this time, have you thought abut starting one? It's an amazing opprotunity to meet amazing people in your own community. If you're interested in doing this let me know and I can put you in contact with the right folks. Thanks

I've spoken with a friend of mine about starting one, we are planning a "trial run" for August in his living room. We don't currently have access to a public space so we are thinking have an unofficial meeting and see how things go then work on finding space/entertainment/a bigger community.
Any information you could give me on starting a spore would be wonderful - I've never organized any sort of public event before and I'm not sure where to start! I was hoping to make it to a Chicago spore so I could see you do it there, but getting to Chicago before 8 or 9 on Wednesdays just can't happen with my current work schedule.

Can each of you commit to bringing one more person with you this month?
New York has over a hundred people attending their Spore meetings.
Chicago is the second largest city (or I think it's the third now) in the US ... we can surely make this group grow.
Once it does grow there will be a new venue set up to accommodate (SMU said so!)
