Hey all

Didnt see this yet so i decided to create it, hope that's cool. i'm actually up in Clevo but y'all are about the closest group (technically Detroit's closer but 'feels' further, guess its a Buckeye thang) so i figured i'd poke my nose in here for a bit.

i've been doing some organizing up in Cleveland, trying to marshal our rather free-floating artsmusicalternaculture neighborhood scene into something a little More. Funny thing is, i felt the Call to do this *before* i discovered Evolver - only to stumble across this site and find it all being mirrored here. Pretty sweet, huh?

Would love to say hey and howdy to whoever's here.. im also associated with the Recycled Rainbow people up here, some of you may have some crossover with Scorched Nuts, i dont know. Have worked with Starwood in the past too tho it got way bloated for my taste a long time ago.

i'll be around, look forward to chatting some more soon -

Hello

Hi, I'm originally from Cleveland, but I live in Columbus, Ohio. I'm married with two young kids and just looking to connect with other people who share the interests of those on Evolver. I admit we're a bit more grounded in our approach than some of the perspectives I read about on Reality Sandwhich, but that's ok.

Hi there

Hello,
Nice to hear from you. I've lived in Columbus for a year now. It sounds like we're in similar boats, because I too am married with 2 small children and am a stay-at-home dad. I'm also trying to, as Terence Mckenna says, "find the others". While I was in college it was a little easier to find the others, in my post-college years it has been much more difficult. But now that I'm in a more urban area, I'm hoping my luck will change. Because as I imagine you can relate to, it gets frustrating when you have all these interests, ideas and you have no one around you who you can express them too. But on the bright side, this isolation of sorts, has added fuel and necessity to my writing/ painting. Hopefully, we'll be able to meet soon, either at the next evolver meeting, or maybe we could plan to have a beer. I don't know if you're into drawing but I attend this figure drawing group that meets monthly at the Wild Goose Creative, and they're meeting this Wednesday. Anyways, these are just a few ideas.
Peace,
charlie

Hi

Greetings charlie,

Yes, I can relate to the sometime boredom of being a stay-at-home dad and looking for the others. I've found looking for the others sometimes involves encountering some unstable people, but to find the others, you have to take the risk.

True dat, but its sort of the nature of the beast. Being "other", by whatever definition you use, means you are not anything Normal, Mainstream, Together - Stable. i've spent some time with the Otherkin community as well, and for every one person i've found who seems genuinely to be a different order (phyllum species genus ;-) trying to make their way here, you'll have equal handfuls of slightly to greatly mentally unstable people, folks with mild to severe addiction problems, and inept social outcasts with a complete WhiteWolf RPG library desperate to grab any definition that might substitute for a real personality.

Now with the latter - a lot of that is the pains of growing up, and with time and the necessary tools & drive for self-discovery, they'll either cast it off (to look nostalgically back at their 'punk phase' 'goth phase' etc) or begin to discover what they're TRULY like and interested in - in short, to evolve. The middle group are often folks who have Otherness but lack something that allows them to Be that and still function in society, and so turn to drug/alcohol addiction as an escape. And the first may also be Other but again lack some essential component (the sword of valor? the cup of sympathy?) - kind of literally an engine not firing on all cylinders.

You have to be very careful with both those last two, because if you're holding on, keeping your own Otherness together, keeping head above water etc., they will sense you've got some tools they lack and glom on to try and patch the holes in their own bucket with any and everything they can take you for. Not always with malicious intent either; some folks just 'evolve' psychic vampirism as a survival technique.

Well! Quite a dissertation from me.. can ya tell i'm stuck sitting at the coffeehouse waiting for my friend to arrive, lol..
Aron, whereabouts in Cleveland? i started as a 'Coventry kid' years ago, but these days i'm based in and around the Tremont neighborhood on the very near west side. i mentioned Scorched Nuts before, if you folks aren't familiar, for sure look them up. Recycled Rainbow too. i'm HOPING i can drag a contingent of folks out to RR this fall; might be a nice time for an Evolver-ing pow-wow with whoever can make it!

Peace out y'all

Sade: The issue for me is

Sade: The issue for me is less than stable people being around my children. Otherwise, I can deal with almost anyone. I'm originally from the East Side of Cleveland, first from South Euclid for elementary then middle school then Beachwood until I graduated. Didn't really fit in anywhere myself. Sort of went from being a computer geek to not really caring as I got older. Less focused on computers these days and well, everyone uses them these days. (; I knew of Couventry kids! (:

Would be cool to meet more people. I've read about Otherkin in Pagan areas, but that's all I really know about them.

Hey

Still looking to me "The others" in Central Ohio. Anyone for meeting up anywhere in Cowtown?

I am from Defiance,

I am from Defiance, definitely feel more connected to C-bus then Detroit. I am just joined and need some one to show me the ropes if you can help me please let me know.

From Dayton

Just found this site due to listening to Joe Rogan's podcast with guest Daniel Pinchbeck. Thought it would be interesting to check out, as there seems to be a lack of like minded individuals in my sphere of contacts here in the Dayton area seeking truth that do not require organized Judeo-Christian gatherings for their spiritual experience.

Heh, Found it the same way.

Just wanted to say that.

Helllllloooooo is it me you're looking for?

New guy here, just wanted to say Hi and my story too.

Born in Brooklyn, used to move around a lot, just moved here, never really fit in with anyone especially in my generation in regards to the way I think and what I care about, I hate facebook and twitter, but I didn't really want to completely alienate the social networking scene so I found this place today and I decided to come and check it out. I hope to meet some decent people with at least somewhat similar ideas or thoughts.
