Dear Denver Evolvers,

We are looking for intrepid evolutionaries who would like to connect and grow the transformational community in Denver by j hosting a monthly Evolver Spore. The Spores are community meet-ups, creative salons, hubs of ecological activation, cultural incubation, and social inspiration. Evolver Spores bring people and groups together who share the ideal of a more beautiful, cooperative society, and help them find the collaborators and tools they need to realize their vision. These gatherings also facilitate a conversation around important issues that the mainstream culture often ignores.

After only four months, our international community has grown rapidly with twenty-five cities synchronizing their efforts across the network, coming together as one for one night every month. You’ll find this month’s theme listed below to give you an idea of the topics we cover. If you have the desire to kick-start the evolution in Denver and join this growing movement, email me at jonathan@evolver.net and we can get you started.

Cheers,

Jonathan

Evolver Spore: Thought for Food

Wed, Oct. 21

In the last fifty years, the meteoric rise of agribusiness has wreaked havoc upon our global food supply. Corporate entities like Monsanto and Cargill are wiping out agricultural diversity with monoculture crops, bankrupting small farmers with unsustainable practices, toxifying our waterways with pesticides and fertilizers, treating animals cruelly, and endangering the web of life with genetically modified foods.

But a growing movement is striking back and taking action to maintain our food security in the 21st Century. These “greenhorns” are creating CSAs, tending rooftop gardens, building aquaponic systems, learning permaculture principles, starting Transition Towns and eco-villages, urban homesteading, saving seed varieties, and practicing slow food ethics to ensure agricultural sustainability. In this Spore, we will, explore and discuss the alternative food networks cropping up in our local communities, as well the importance of nutrition in our lives. Spores may want to look at current FDA dietary recommendations and contrast them with the rising interest in organic/live foods, ayurvedic diets, superfoods, healing herbs, and more.

Denver Regional Hosts

I've passed this info on to someone in Denver that's not currently involved with Evolver. However, the ideas and current porjects he has going are perfectly aligned with the Food Spore article that came in todays email. I look forward to supporting Denver as a regional for the Food Spore topic. If you would please let me know if there's been any progress towards this yet, that would be awesome. Thanks & Aloha!

Here Denver

Hi, I see these messages are from 2009 and I wonder if you guys really met once
in Denver... ?

I am willing, able and ready to start a group, we can get together at a coffee place in
town for the first time and we will see after that. Let me know what you think, I am new here.
Thanks and much love to everyone!

Solei

Me too!

I've been reading about ways communities can become more collaborative and self-sustaining, but it's been a bit overwhelming trying to figure out where to start. I'd love a chance to talk with others about how we can make changes together. I'm so glad you posted!

I'm in too . . . .

I'm in too. Would like to join with like minds, hearts, inspirations, investigations and sharings. So many things from parallel intentions and experiences going on these days. It would be nice to find others with whom we could share our gifts/talents/contributions and stories.

Meeting...

Mary,

I too have followed David Wilcock since 2005, and started with reading Conversations With God by Neale Donald Walsch.

I would like to get together, preferably in the SE Denver area.

P.S., if you like David, you might enjoy www.stevebeckow.com

Dec.10

Hi all, I'm from Evolver Vancouver and a Sporeganizer. I met Rae who has been starting up Evolver Boulder when I visited Colorado last summer. I think Denver has huge potential and hope some of the Denver tribe I know will get involved. A note that Kirsten Rae Erkfritz is doing her first bigger size Boulder Spore on December 10th and so it might be worthwhile for you all to get a taste of it and some inspiration. I just have the Facebook invite but it may be on here somewhere too. My other friend Chris Hill (dj Lunar Storm) is also presenting about Hopi Prophecy related material. Hope some of you can catch it!

The Return Path - teachings, traditions, prophecy's and messages received during personal aural transmissions with Hopi, Maya and Tibetan elders and wisdom keepers... a message which reflects the accounts of elders according to their history and stories, offering a clear and grounded perspective of the changes and acceleration we are experiencing at the end of the cycle.

Lunar Storm brings his direct experience with some of the world’s elders from many cultures to share with his Evolver family.

The Holiday Lore

The red Fly agaric with its white dots, has been a much used image for the Midwinter and Christmas festivities in central Europe for a long time. The modern image of Santa can be traced back to a 4th century Byzantine archbishop who became St Nicolas and was famous for his kindness to children.

At midwinter festivals the shaman would come into the yurt through the smoke hole and down the central supporting birch pole, bringing with him a bag of fly agaric to be placed in stockings over the fireplace where they could be dried for celebratory use. Once his ceremonies had been fulfilled he would exit the same way he entered. Ordinary people would have believed the shaman himself was able to fly, or with the aid of 'flying' reindeer whom they knew had a taste for the fly agaric due to the euphoric results, and therefore prance around in a hallucinogenic after effect. Modern Santa is now dressed in the same colours as the fly agaric toting a sack overflowing with presents, entering and exiting the home through the chimney, can fly with reindeer and resides in the 'Far North'.

Meeting in Denver

Hi all!
Great to see we agree on getting together. Let's post possible dates and times.
How about December 10th afternoon?
Please suggest a place.
Blessings,
Solei

Meeting

Saturdays are usually tough for me, but I could probably make this one if we did it at 3:30 or 4:00 PM.

Depending on where other group members are driving from, Stella's on South Pearl St. is usually good for meetings. Another option is the Whole Foods at 11th and Ogden St. It has a coffee and juice bar that usually has enough room and is quiet enough. The Whole Foods on S. Colorado Blvd. is even better. Cafe Europa at Alameda and Pennsylvania is good too, although it can be noisy if it gets really crowded.

denver spore meetup!!!

Did we ever figure out a time/place guys? Dec 10th is tom! We could also meet up at the Denver Handmade Homemade Market, it's a pretty cool little event I think most of you would be interested in if you haven't already checked it out! http://www.denverhaho.org/index.html

HAHO Market!

I'm down. I was going to stop by anyway. What time is good?

Handmade Homemade Holiday Market Saturday, Dec. 10th from 3pm to 8pm @ Green Spaces - 1368 26th street (at Larimer)

5:30 works well.

Gathering space

I haven't been to any spores but would love to get involved.
I work at wash perk coffee shop and we allow groups to meet and reserve a living room space. It's 2 blocks west of wash park. It would fit a small group. 15 or so. Possibly good for book discussions or something. Just an idea.

spores

Leah that sounds like a great idea!!!
Lona I miss you tonight :( I was a little late but I went up to about 4 spunky looking short hair blondes but never found you... sry for the disconnect, I hope me finally meet again soon!! I am headed to the Boulder spore event soon!
