Alright folks - things are starting to pick up with Evolver Pittsburgh, and I can't do this alone; nor should I, as these events NEED to be collectively determined and organized to reflect the varied and changing nature of our community.

Basically I am asking for at least two people to join me as a Regional Coordinator. This is a completely voluntary position, and you only have to contribute what you can.

As a Regional Coordinator, you will have access to the Evolver Regionals mailing list, and all of the resources that entails. You will be in direct contact with Daniel Pinchbeck and Jonathan Talat-Phillips as well as fellow Sporeganizers (cute, huh?) from around the world, and get a chance to see what everyone else is up to, as well as participate in brainstorming and mutual support, etc.

"Duties" include helping to come up with specific event details surrounding monthly themes (Spores), finding people interested in presenting and attending such events, finding venues, and working with myself in other aspects of running an organization (starting and monitoring a treasury, engaging members in decision making processes, access to the Twitter account, Facebook page and Regional page on the Evolver Network site, etc.)

I am interested in having this be managed as collectively as possible, and want to work on developing methods of full group consensus while having organizes have as much autonomy as they need to get things done.

If you are interested, please reply to this e-mail and we can discuss this further - afraser42@gmail.com

I would like to get involved

I would like to get involved with this. I have not been to any of the meetings yet, however I plan to become active in it. I am actually on my way back from a trip to Baltimore, where I got to spend a lot of time with some great Evolvers.

Me

Alright, I'm in as one. I have been promoting and monitoring FB a good bit, so I have the cycles :)

Awesome! I really

Awesome! I really appreciate the feedback. Let's meet up soon and discuss this IRL.

Just a heads up, I posted a the Google Group and other organizational info in another Topic - make sure we make us of this useful technology :)

thinking out loud for comment

There are 20 or so definite members here. Will everyone be willing to check or participate in Google groups, Twitter, Facebook and Evolver? I'm wondering what the best technology is based on our needs, and if we can use a single platform-- say Evolver has email reminders, and I suppose everyone checks their email.

Can each tool/platform be syncd so someone who ONLY uses email and ... Facebook, or email and Evolver doesn't miss something that was posted to Groups or Twitter? Some people don't FB much, and maybe we should explore what google groups can do for us that the Evolver site can't, if anything. What's your experience with G-Groups versus Evolver?

Hootsuite (side note) posts on Facebook, Twitter and Foursquare, so there's probably... sigh. done for the moment.

This is something I've been

This is something I've been thinking a lot about, actually.

I use HootSuite for my @EvolverPGH, @TransitionPGH and @man_vs_world accounts, as well as the Evolver Pittsburgh and TransitionPGH Facebook Pages.

I know we use Google Groups a lot with inter-Regional chat, and talking to Jonathan and Daniel over in HQ.

What I really want to see is collaborative tools, like Google Wave, integrated into the site - Riseup.net has a system similar (doesn't work quite as in real time like G-Wave doe) available to its users.

I would like to discuss this at the meeting this Friday - I hope you can come!

I am simply too tired to think about it right now @_@

looking forward to it brotha !

Aaron, will you be at the Coffee Tree Roasters before 7:30 ? i'll be gettin there pretty early

I'm looking forward to being in touch with Daniel.. supposed to reconnect our friend Blythe with him, as she's been busy-- with her kids, baking, relationships, community shepherding-- enough not to be able to keep attending the Goa festival they would hang at.

While having an Evolver PGH group on just about every major online platform is helpful especially in getting involvement and membership with our Spore to a tipping point, i think ultimately as much as possible should be done to make Evolver.net the main means. This is not to enforce an exclusivity or keep things from really rippling out-- nor am i trying to conform anyone to a Pinchbeck opinion about Fb 'cheapening communication'. It does, but no doubt Fb and other sites still can do things Evolver can't. Yet, all we need to keep people PGH Evolvers apprised of Evolver events.. is Evolver. It's kinda their issue if they want to be involved with the Spore without having an Evolver.net membership. Not that i find it important to have a site membership if one is seriously deepening involvement with the Spore, but if someone is going to be keeping up with events online one way or another.. why not shift one's activity here, to the enabling source? Having a membership here means checking your email is all you need to do to maintain par awareness. No doubt there's room for technical improvement and broadened function here-- e.g., only one picture upload? are you serious? i'm talking moment-sharing, not vanity-steeping ha-- but i'd much rather help the Evolver economics and see their few wholesome ads... than sacrifice most individuation and privacy to Fb's now app-less vortex of dishonest adver-tizing, madlib-molded around every 'like' and word one enters on it.

as above, so below;

strive to glow

I'm not sure when I'll be

I'm not sure when I'll be there - I may/may not have the energy for a healing session beforehand.

If I can, I'll try to be there around 6 or so.

see you tonight!

Yo!

Hey Zach,

Help would be much appreciated! We're going to try and have weekly meetings so we can be a bit more coordinated - I should be putting something out for that on the Google Group - http://groups.google.com/group/evolverpittsburgh

As for vegans, I don't know of too many in the group (but that's just my knowledge), but there are definitely some that attend events. I have a friend, Jaymes, who isn't a vegan but really enjoys making raw vegan food. Maybe I can connect yinz on Facebook or something.
