I live in a city that is the opposite of everything I want in a city. The only reason I’m here is because it’s where I grew up. I’m 24, and I gotta get out.

If you want the details, I can give them to you if you want them – otherwise, I won’t spoil your mood. (It’s actually quite comical, despite the fact that it’s such a tragic mess).

So anyway, I can’t take the mental climate of this city any longer, and I’m going to move now.

It’s time to find another home. Some place where people are healthy, happy, creative, fun-loving, forward thinking, and unafraid to be themselves.

My primary prospects are Portland OR, Boulder CO, and Asheville NC, with some interest in Eugene, Seattle, and the SF Bay area as well.

So I’m putting my intention out there: I’d like to come visit Portland!

If you would like to help me with this, I’d appreciate it very much. The primary thing I need is someone (or a few people) to show me around. Introduce me to some of the social scene, so I can see what the town is like under the surface. Making a choice based on only the touristy surface stuff is not something I want to do. Also, if you can give me a place to stay, for any length of time, that would be amazing.

Pretty much any time within the next few months is good. I’m shooting for a one-week long visit, which is probably enough time to get a feel of the vibration.

If you can help in any way, please let me know! I’d be very grateful!

Maybe couchsurfing.com would

Maybe couchsurfing.com would be a good place to look? I have some friends that particpate with that (hosting and surfing) and I have only heard very good things.

Ditto that.

Ya, I've couch-surfed. Nice folks! I'm currently surfing friends' couches in PDX. Lovely place.
