My friend and singer songwriter, Michael Stillwater, is coming to Portland this week. This is a rare opportunity, as Michael lives in Europe and comes to Portland once a year or less.

Tuesday night (November 10) is an Evening of Song with Michael and special guest artist kirtan and bhajan singer/composer Jaya Lakshmi.

This event will combine both sacred chant and intuitive music in a spirit of universal acceptance of all spiritual paths. Much of the evening will be group singing led by Michael and Jaya, plus Michael will be creating spontaneous healing songs for individuals in the audience who are facing particular challenges.

These spontaneous song creations are quite powerful, and are intended to offer healing and inspiration not just for those individuals whom they are focused on, but for everyone who is present. An MP3 of all the original healing songs created at the event will be made available free of charge to everyone who attends.

This event is $12 in advance, $15 at the door -- you can get the advance ticket price at www.innerharmony.com. Click on Events to register.

Both events are 7 pm - 9:30 pm at The Little Church at 5138 NE 23rd Ave. (Alberta Arts District).

Wednesday night (November 11) is a different kind of event with Michael, an intensive workshop called SongSourcing: The Joy of Spontaneous Songmaking. Michael will guide participants through a gentle process of reconnecting with your inner song through a unique method linking mindfulness to musical imagination (as seen on PBS “Healing Quest†series).

This workshop is for people of all musical abilities and levels -- you do not need to be a singer. It is particularly powerful for those who feel they "cannot" sing. Michael's guidance opens up ways of connecting with our deep Soul knowing and helps us discover how to sing from presence, without concern about "how we sound."

This is a workshop that I participated in with Michael for several days at a retreat in May, and it was personally quite powerful, soul-ful work.

Wednesday's workshop is $25 in advance, $30 at the door. Register at http://www.innerharmony.com.
