Evolver Spore: Aliens Among Us?

Hello again Portland Evolvers,

The "Aliens Among Us" spore is coming up this Wednesday at 7p.m.
We'll hang out for a bit, and then dive in at around 7:15 or 7:30.

In our planning brainstorm, we decided that it'd be best to show a range of different video clips, and then discuss them. Down below, I've included a number of the clips that we'll be watching in case you wanted to check them out beforehand or watch longer excerpts from the clips.

It should be a fascinating discussion that you won't want to miss. Skeptics are also definitely invited to come, as no one person has the whole story, it'd be great to come participate and figure out what most people believe and what your own beliefs are.

The first 6:36 of the Out of the Blue documentary -- this clip has lots of a number of vague testimonial clips, but sourced to some of the most credible astronaut and official sources. Tons of great UFO b-roll footage and it's really well edited. We'll watch up to the Pheonix Lights segment starts. The overall film is excellent, but we'll only be watching a clip from the very beginning.

We'll be watching Greer's introduction starting at 3:06 up until 14:40 when he introduces the first speaker. When we look at the technical progress humanity has made in the last two hundred years, it seems quite likely that any tool-using species that survives past our current stage of civilization will possess powers and abilities that we can barely imagine. The possibility that other species - even galactic federations - monitor life on earth seems less and less farfetched. Some see this as reason to celebrate - others as cause for alarm.

In this Spore, we will explore the case for and against alien visitors, and the theoretical intricacies of intergalactic diplomacy. Subjects to cover include Francis Crick's "pan-spermia " hypothesis; the Disclosure Project; crop circles; ideas from thinkers like Terence McKenna, Zacharia Sitchin, William Irwin Thompson, Barbara Hand Clow, and Jose Arguelles. As we seek to shed light on this esoteric area, we might explore the "myth-histories" of ancient and indigenous cultures from the Sumerian to the Hopi who describe beings from the stars coming to earth. Is this mere folktale or part of a true never ending story that continues to unfold through our time?
