Two Wolves – A Cherokee Parable

An old Cherokee chief was teaching his grandson about life...

"A fight is going on inside me," he said to the boy.
"It is a terrible fight and it is between two wolves.

"One is evil - he is anger, envy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority, self-doubt, and ego.

"The other is good - he is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion, and faith.

"This same fight is going on inside you - and inside every other person, too."

The grandson thought about it for a minute and then asked his grandfather,
"Which wolf will win?"

The old chief simply replied,
"The one you feed."

Great Myth!

Reminds me of a time not too long ago when I was in the thick of a heavy existential crisis of sorts. One day I went for an early morning walk over to high park to try to clear my head. It was about 4am and I hadn't been in the park long when I spotted a coyote, then a second one. One was dark and the other light. I recognized the symbolism and decided to keep an eye on them (and got a bit closer than I normally would have).
They were curious about me too but eventually decided to bolt across a nearby field and I chased them into the woods until I lost sight of them.

Still struggling with my wolves but I know which one I want to feed.

Thanks for the post brother, cheers!
