Post Int'l Indigenous Leadership Council held in Vancouver

Following the 2nd annual International Indigenous Leadership Gathering 2010 a post-gathering was held in Vancouver with visiting guests from New Zealand, Isaac Bishara and Lucy Tukua representing their Maori people. For some of us who had attended the gathering in Lilloet BC it was an opportunity to share reflections and experiences and pass these on to those who hadn't gone. We also learned many things about Maori spirituality which was deepening for all of us. To begin with we heard a prayer in Maori that followed with a round of introductions where each person shared their parents place of birth, the mountains and waters near them, their name, followed by our own, then our name. This effectively created a "woven basket" which as you will see if you watch was filled with profound wisdom relating to ancestors. Here is the recording following the round of intro's and opening prayer. Best to listen to as the lighting is dim with headphones or played on loud system as audio is not very loud but it is listenable.
