What can be done with Evolver Vancouver?

Hi all, I wish to generate some discussion both here as well as in person or by telephone/skype regarding the evolution of Evolver Vancouver. We're fairly new at our events having only connected in last month really with the Resonance event with Rupert Sheldrake and Jill Purce at the Unitarian Hall. The month before that was more of a field trip when we checked out the Spiral Dynamics presentation. This month will be an exciting intimate discussion in the cosey Temple Den in East Vancouver. I am enjoying the easy evolution of this monthly occasion.

When I say easy it doesn't mean that some things have not been easy. I've had whole organized plans disintegrate because of forces beyond my control, losing a loved one in my community being one of them. I had a great line up of speakers for the Beyond Money topic and some video to present but had to postpone it. Would still like to do something with that at some point. Also the "partnering" up with the Spiral Dynamics group in Vancouver wasn't as integrated as I'd hoped it would be. We ended up having an empty sign up sheet afterwards and just a name drop during the introductions. I share this mainly as a way of saying that I at this point would like to share this interesting journey of event creation with more of a community of Evolver Vancouver people.

What I particularly love about this is that I am already tapped into a large variety of networks and love to do so. This network expansion into Vancouver is the perfect opportunity to broaden my networks and I think everyone should see that opportunity. Each month the focus will be so different and yet apply to many I'm certain. It is free of dogma, (you don't have to have a stance on 2012 to participate.) I really want to see Evolver Vancouver evolve beyond my wildest expectations. In the meanwhile I am going to do all in my ability to bring into it the people whose lives have touched me or whose work interests me in relation to the great topics coming up. I will post what's coming up for people to see shortly.

If you'd like to be a more core part of the evolution of Evolver Vancouver or tag in at some point please let me know. I do not guarantee immediate affinity with others without careful consideration but cooperation lies behind my intention.

Thanks for following along with the evolution....time to step up.

New to Vancouver but glad to help

I'm new to the Vancouver area so I lack the connections that more established Evolver members might have but I would love to help regardless. If others have interest, I would recommend that we start a reading group. I'll look forward to meeting all of you next week.

Welcome Justin

Thanks for your comment Justin and great suggestion. See you at the Spore event Wednesday!

Sobey,
Thank you for your thoughtful, articulate call to rally around community building via this interesting and exciting Evolver.
And props to you and all others for a lovely evening at the Temple Den.
Much food for thought!!
Being a mom of a toddler reduces my availability somewhat, however I would like to be involved and contribute when I can.

I am wondering how the local spore can interact or stay connected to the other locations. How can the Vancouver spore be part of the conversation Daniel and the others are having? For example, is there access to film of various discsussions on Shamanism?

I think a reading group is a great idea. We could even read articles or excerpts. We could easily start with 'Breaking Open the Head". It's such a fun book!
And if you really want to deepen the level of intention, connection, intimacy I recommend council to open meetings when possible. (with small enough group).
We can also take turns 'facilitating' meeting as to distrubute energy and reduce wear and tear on you, the organizer.
Please continue to articulate the gaps where we can lend a hand.
Perhaps the next meeting we can have a brainstorming excercise for suggestions and ideas.
Many wishes of continued radiance,
Mimi
