scene 230 *******************************************************
Siendo bueno, engañándose, él le prometió que ella es todo
lo que él querÃa en la vida; él está a tono con sus palabras.
By being good, by deceiving himself, he promised her that
she is all he would ever want; he is at one with his words.
Asà como él reta las puntas de los cuernos, y las pezuñas oscuras
de los toros que monta; simplemente as{i, Arturo la ama sin reserva.
Just as he dares the tips of the horns, and obscure hoofs
of the mounted bulls; just so, Arturo loves without reserve.
Ama tan irreflexivamente como vive, abandonado y atrevido;
él siempre va con todo, hasta el final - ése es su estilo.
He loves as thoughtlessly as he lives, very abandoned and bold;
he is always going all the way to the edge - that is his style.
De hecho no podÃa pensar en ninguna otra mujer ya que no quiso
a nadie excepto a su querida Azucena con su vestido descolorido.
Indeed he could not even think of any other woman as he did not
want anyone except his darling Azucena in her washed out dress.
Era su mujer, hecha para él, él supo que Dios se la habÃa enviado;
¡nadie podrÃa desear en la vida una mejor novia o una más bonita!
She was his woman she was made for him he knew God had sent her;
no one could ever wish for a better girlfrÃend or a prettier one!
La pasión llevaba sangre a sus mejillas; sus ojos estaban luminosos;
Su músculo del corazón se estremecÃa con el golpe de su circulación.
The passion was calling blood into her cheeks; her eyes are bright;
her heart muscle thrilled with the pulsing beat of her circulation.
En perfecto acuerdo, se quedaron allà parados, sus caras brillando
con una felicidad extrema que viene, si acaso, una vez en la vida.
In perfect accord, they stood there, both of their faces were
shining with a bliss that comes, if at all, once in a lifetime.

Inocencia deseos ilusiones y pasiones incumplidas
iluminan las caras con convicción incomprendida.
Innocence wishfullness illusions and unfulfilled passions
illuminate their faces with an uncomprehending conviction.
Esa luz suave que aparentemente lustre en los dos,
está brillando más, como si fuera visible el cielo.
That soft light that seemingly glows from the two of them,
is brightening more now, as if heaven itself were visible.
Arturo se transfigura por el fervor turbulento de sus emociones
ido de nuevo más allá de los lÃmites, sin cautela, sin cuidado.
Arturo is transfixed by the roiling fervor of his emotions;
gone again beyond all limits, no caution, no being careful.
Ella es uno con su ser interno como él se unifica con el suyo
eterno, ella está junto a él, para el paseo salvaje y peligro.
She is at one with her inner being as it is unified with his;
timeless, she is alongside him, for the wild ride and danger.
El sentido de ellos es fresco como las hojas del árbol de aguacate;
cosa verdadera, amor verdadero llegando como las lluvias de verano.
The feeling of them is fresh like the avocado tree leaves;
a true thing, real love coming on like the rains of summer.
Ella lo ama, lo amaba, siempre lo harÃa, ella le amarÃa para siempre;
como él está enamorado de ella, su angelita terrestre con sandalias.
She loves him loved him had always and would forever love him;
as he is in love with her, his sensual sandal-shod earth angel.
Ella siente que su espÃritu la toma; sin decir palabra, ella
se relaja en el abrazo etéreo de su torero campeón, su amante.
She felt his spirit take her; wordlessly, she releases herself
into the ethereal embrace of her bull-rider champion, her lover.
El sentimiento y emoción profundos que están compartiendo han ido más allá
de todas palabras ahora que ellos se sostienen tiernamente en sus corazones.
The deep feeling and emotion they are sharing has gone beyond
all words now as they tenderly hold each other in their hearts.
Los guardias todavÃa están allÃ, pero ahora son hombres de palo
que no parecen más vivos que los rifles ridÃculos a sus lados.
The guards are still standing there, but now they are stick men
who seem no more alive then the ridiculous rifles at their sides.
