Okay, here's a wishlist:
- email notifications: it would be incredibly useful if, whenever a comment was left on a blog, a notification was sent to our regular email. Also, if we could subscribe to the comments threads on various blogs, discussion threads, etc. That would really streamline things.
-huh. it seems that's all I can think of. Thought there was more but you guys must be doing a fantastic job, or something ^_~
A few things...
Some suggestions:
-Allow Evolver.net links to be posted on facebook, much like RS links.
-More of a focus on the homepage about tangible projects/events/regional group activity... Its all well and good when people write about their feelings and wax philosophically about the ever expanding nature of the universe, but for someone new to this type of community, page after page of mostly unconnected personal blogs might put some people off who are looking for a more community-centric, social organizing website (which is the primary purpose of Evolver, if I'm not mistaken.)
-Although I've already sort of mentioned it, having the Evolver Regionals take a more central place on the website.
Other than that, keep up the wonderful work!
Email notifications, being
Email notifications, being able to subscribe to comments threads, Evolver links for Facebook -- these are all great suggestions. We're already trying to figure out the email notifications and I'll pass the others on. I also agree about having more of the Evolver activity on the homepage would be great, and one of my greatest passions is getting the regionals going, so we'll have to make that more present as well.
So what else are people thinking.
Cheers,
Jonathan
Local Searches
Yes, local searches will be in the works. I think it's especially helpful for events. Also, we'll be making the regionals easier to find.

Jonathan
Slow site
I've noticed that the site takes a long time to load and occasionally pages don't load at all. OK, that's mroe of a small complaint than a suggestion for improvement! It's not so much that it's unusable, and of course Evolver is still in its infacy, but if you start getting a big influx of folks that we all hope for, it might make it difficult to use. I'm using Firefox and calling from the UK, if that's relevant.
Member searches would be good, if possible.
Also I've noticed that when you have a new friend request, you get an accept request then a completely new screen saying 'are you sure?' Reckon that second screen could be taken out, just adds to the load on your servers. May I nominate this suggestion as the most nitpicky anally-retentive suggestion, and thus win a booby prize of some sort? :-)
Thanks for everything you're all doing. It really is fantastic...

Speeding Up Evovler & More
Hi Bruce,
These are all great suggestions. Optimizing server speed is something we've already earmarked to get worked on.
Actually, you can search for members right now by putting in their username or email into the search box, but we need to make this more clear.
And yes, I find the second accept request page unnecessary, although this may not be a top priority as we continue to fix bugs and implement new features.
Thanks so much for informing us of your suggestions.
How to cut / paste a blog
Namaste!
I was curious if there is a way to take an existing post and add it to a group blog/discussion? And if not, it might be a neat tool to add!! For example, I'm a member of The Zeitgeist Movement Group. A recent Top News blog was posted (by an Evolver that is not a member of The Zeitgeist Movement Group) that I feel is relevant to the group. Instead of me posting in the group stating "go check out this new blog," can I have the Top News post added to the group's blog? Sorry for rambling on...I have the tendency :)

This is a good idea and
This is a good idea and definitely something we thought about but then the concern about spam in many groups came up, which has already been a slight issue that we've had to address quickly. But we are working on more ways to have the different content types mesh together.

Jonathan
Improving Projects
Hi Colin,
We definitely want to do this. I'm sending your notes to our tech team. This is on our mind after we fix up the group pages more and events. We're still in beta, and as many of you have probably guessed, Evolver.net is a work in progress.
Cheers,
Jonathan
Oh snap could I build a list for you, Jonathan, sir.
For one, Drafts!
This is huge to me. I have a ton of material and very spotty times where I can actively work on a post.
Rather than posting an unfinished piece to edit later, I would love to have the ability to save a draft to publish later.
Having unfinished post published just so I can come work on them when I have time a few hours later is soooo tacky.
If you guys are running something like Drupal, Joomla or ModX, this shouldn't be difficult to implement at all!
I already talked to you about the wiki... I just don't understand why it would take so much time to roll out. Shiz... give me ftp access, the ability to set permissions and administrator rights to a new SQL database and I could have TikiWiki or some other open source tikiware installed on the server, designed to match the main site and rolled out to the public in a matter of a few focused hours or a few scattered days...
Need any help?
drafts and groks
Hey Jonathan -- I think the idea about drafts would be helpful too!! I have a really hard time writing a great blog in one sitting.
I really wanted to talk to you about the new system with the groks -- I like the idea, but since the switch-over I'm having a hard time getting to the newest blogs -- they seem to get pushed back really far because they start with zero. I don't really know what could be done about this, because I do like the grok system -- it's just kind of a bummer that I keep seeing the same blogs over and over.
I just thought I'd bring it up -- I don't know if anybody else feels the same way, but before the switch-over from the lightning bolts to the groks, the blogs seemed to switch up naturally, even on the highest rated catagory, and I miss that. The other thing is it seems like we are starting to grok more than we actually comment on one another's blogs, and that really stinks =(
I could be wrong about this -- it's only a suggestion -- but wouldn't it make sense to have the newest blogs on the default evolver page? I say that because then the initiative to discuss new topics already works itself out. After all, the highest rated will get read on the basis that they are the highest-rated.
(PS I still love this site no matter what!! And I appreciate all the hard work that goes into making it so great!! Whatever you guys decide to do, I'll still be here!)
Joanne
