Freedom
"And so it was revealed to me, that god is not a male person at all, verily she is not even a grownup. The goddess of goddesses is a little girl, so small indeed, she does not grow a single hair between her holy and virginal legs..."
Freedom is first a state of mind, which then by itself manifests in liberating actions. My goal is to lead consciousness to it's fullest potential, liberated from dead dogma, social conditioning and false ego. Then I will perceive, what is left to do...
Democracy
Is it just me or is democracy really labor intensive? I, like most Americans am rather lazy when it comes to political involvement. I don't consider myself to have the fortitude of David when versing the Goliath of bureaucracy and political wheeling and dealing that is Washington. Can I just go to work and live in my house in peace?! Every time I turn around a new agency or law is created to deal with more mundane and obtrusive aspects of my life. All because a hand-full of annoyed, self-interested people ruffled the right congressman's feathers. Now we are stuck with tons of selfish rules and regulations when all I want to do is just live in peace.
Sometimes I get so angry I just wish it would fall apart. But then again, the alternatives leave more to be desired. I have to give the Founding Fathers props for constructing a government that seems to function best in dysfunction. For all its flaws and cumbersomeness its effective at being that. The seemingly insurmountable task of adding or changing a law weeds out a lot of frivolous and fashionable trends from becoming policy. For all its headache and heartache I am proud to be apart of this great 200 year experiment. The idea of people governing themselves is just crazy enough to work.
