Hello!
This group is a place to discuss and share our experiences living in intentional communities, wwoofing at them, and ideas for forming new ones. Also I'd like to start topics concerning trade, transport and communication between them.
Emphasis is on "real" places we've been or would like to go to.{philosophy and theory are very welcome but more so when based on a life experience}
Where have you been, Who have you met that has shaped your current intentions? What was it like visiting a community?
Let's keep mostly to first person experiences!
A shared intention can be almost anything. What do you intend and how would you like to be living?
There are all kinds of communties: farms, ashrams, communes, pagan sanctuaries, artist colonies, experimental invention zones.......They range from religious to secular, from on to off the grid and from strict to free-for-all.
If you've been to one this is the place to write about what it's like to be a part of it.
What I have found is that each place is unique in its problems and potentials, its order and its chaos and that many interesting discussions may come out of looking at them individually.
This is not a group for "is community life good or bad?" beyond good/bad is a wealth of experience to learn and grow from.
If you'd like to be a part of one but haven't figured it out yet this can be a group to get some ideas from. Post what you are looking for and maybe we've been there. There are many opportunities to grow and flourish in a place when your intentions are in line with its.
I'd also like to point out that the definition of intentional community is pretty loose so basically if you think it applies to say your house in the city don't hesitate just because it is "only a house".
Eventually I would like to elaborate on this project and make it its own website outside of evolver but lets start here and see where it goes.
I've been traveling to different communities and will write about them soon as well as update when I've visited more.
