Hello,
I'm going to be writing about various communities in this group, some well established and others that are to be manifested.

Two friends of mine Linda and Patrick Oliver have just purchased land in central Oregon and are embarking on the forming of a community with a mandala shaped building layout and an economy of gift giving and selfless service. It is intended to be a place of healing without any price labels or gaudy buddha business cards.
They are vegans and sungazers with eyes that photosynthesize light into food for great thoughts welcoming whoever is interested in making the world a kinder place.

Here is an excerpt from the website to give you the flavor:

"In an alternative community of service to this planet as a shared vision it becomes easier to think of ourselves as interactive, cooperative cells of the Earth having permeable membranes (energy fields) surrounding us instead of contrived barriers of separation like zip codes, class stratifications, national borders, or white picket fences. Information and energy are encouraged to flow in and out of OMfield providing nourishment, growth, repair, and regeneration without arbitrary, corrupt blockades to stymie the natural, interrelated networks of our bodies and the planet."

Although not much on site work will be happening this winter, next spring will be a time of growth and building. Anyone who is interested please make contact and help this vision move toward reality!
I do believe it is worth it. Spread the word.

Is this a vegan community? I didn't see that specified anywhere on the website.

vegan community ?

That is an excellent question !

-In the founders' self-descriptions it says they're vegan,
on the workshop page there is a "Eating Vegan and Raw" workshop

My guess is they'd be vegan, but I have recently learned there is quite a spectrum between the kind of loving vegans who constitute my extended family @ Cafe Gratitude and some others !

Which for me is Very Good Information !!

Before going 'all in' with any community, it will be one of my first priorities to see if they treat each other with love & mutual respect .. and have process "in place" for dealing with aggressives who take the names of non-violent leaders of the past in vain while dishing up aggressive dogma bites.

What if a community is vegan, and does not want to be involved with aggressive proselytization / "activism" which some vegans apparently have dedicated their consciousness to ?

I guess if I just ask that question of any given community, I should probably get a reasonable coherent / cogent answer..

I'm pretty sure...

it will be at least a mostly vegan community....if an awsome person comes to help but sneaks in some yogurt no one's going to freak out about it.

I heard today they just built two insulated tepees, one for them and another for guests...just for starters.

David,
No need to go "all in", experiencing as long as you feel the place when you feel it is a good way to do it...and if dogma arises how do you work with it?

They were non-dogmatic in my opinion and really open to good ideas.
