Useful web resources

I'm starting this discussion as a place to compile useful web-links about communties, resource sharing, volunteer gardening, work-trade places of learning and so forth.
I thought I knew all the big ones turns out I'm skimming the surface of a deep lake! This list does not include individual community links that can go in a different discussion if you'd like to start one.
Please add what you can.
Eventually I will take all the info and compile it into one list for ease in reading.

My start:

Volunteering/Internships

http://wwoof.org/ {volunteer organic farming}
http://www.organicvolunteers.org/ { volunteering and internships}

Community Lists

http://www.IC.org { big list with some out-of-date info}

Resource Sharing

http://www.couchsurfing.org/ {stay with people not hotels}
http://www.freecycle.org/{stop the cycle of needless production by getting things used}
Craigslist- for sale- free can also be used.
http://www.erideshare.com/ { carpooling}
http://hyperlocavore.ning.com/ {YardSharing!! I found this on evolver posted by hyperlocavore}

the editor is Diana Leafe Christian, author of "Finding Community" and "Creating a Life Together", 2 of the best books out there that I know of on the topic of IC's. "Creating..." is especially valuable because in it she goes over the reasons why most communities fail and how that can be prevented.

great links, thanks!

let me know if you've got any other leads on good gift economy or resource sharing sites.

hyperlocavore looks awesome! was just talking about how something like this needs to exist, so i was very happy to find it tonight :)

gift economy (sf bayarea)

Karma Kitchen is catching on.. it is a project of Charity Focus
-as is Karma Clinic

Cafe Gratitude is offering some of its workshops on gift economy, and have a "Gratitude bowl" (yummy, filling, nutritious) with black beans, rice or quinoa, shredded kale, and some kind of tasty sauce) which patrons are encouraged to enjoy, and 'pay forward' so that the next person will receive the same gift & the same opportunity to give in return.

I am interested in putting together a gift economy computer repair service, which will be teaching on-the-job skills to young jobless folks.
I also volunteer with Karma Clinic, and do computer work for Cafe Gratitude.
-and last but not least, am involved in Grateful Mind & Body, a worker owned healing arts collective, which at some point in the near future, will be setting up a non-profit adjunct .. which will likely be gift economy based.
