So, I've been digging into the "new" Peter J Carroll book...( I put the quotes on new cuz apparently it came out last year 08/08/08 to be precise.) I ordered mine last week and it got to me on the 23rd (of course...) There's a lot to wrap your head around in this one, more physics then some would be used to, on the other hand I suspect any body who was an "orthodox" physicist would probably dismiss it... I can't seem to put this down even though I've "finished" reading it... (ok, ok, I'll admit, I just skimmed over the appendices, but they were all, like, crazy math that I suspect were meant to prove his theory about the Universe being a finite and unbounded vorticitating hypersphere, and time being 3 dimensional.) But there was something else in there for me, a huge surprise.... You see, as I read it I realized something. See, he sort of introduces his patron goddess Apophenia (finding pattern and meaning where others don't), In turn we are also introduced to her twin sister Pareidolia, (finding meaning and pattern where none exists)... Example, while Apophenia will show you the universe in a grain of sand, Pareidolia will show you the virgin Mary in a tortilla... Well, I have to admit, that I feel Pareidolia has mostly guided me, and I have to say she works well for me. I find invoking her to be easy... cloud gazing.... finding faces in tree bark... I even find her when watching conspiracy theory based documentaries... She works well for my art and we seem to have fun... soon I will sigilize her name and see what I can do with that....
