Harvest

I ventured down to Genoa, WI this past weekend to hunt morels. A few close friends of mine stomped through the thorny hillsides of my friend's southwestern Wisconsin land. We went out for 5 beautiful hours and captured approximately 20lbs. (See photos)
It was a wonderful experience. Just being out in the woods with friends was enough, but finding that many morels made it a very memorable day. If you have not gone out to look for morels, I strongly suggest it if you are able.
We divided the mushrooms amongst each other: some were dehydrated to be saved for fall and winter snacks, others were savored in delicious meals (including tonight!), and another few pounds were sold to a local (Minneapolis) restaurant for $30/lb. That's the beauty of morels, when you get so many you have to use them very quickly, and many restaurants are dying to get fresh, local mushrooms so you can make a small amount of money while having a bounty of morels, and providing a local restaurant with food.
Whether you are out hunting morels or just enjoying the Earth coming back to life after the winter, may you find yourself in good spirits.
I look forward to seeing other morel harvests!
Cheers
Ian
