Believe it or not clothing was originally created for protection and keeping warm. Then came status and aesthetic. Now most people have more clothes than days of the week for various purposes of every waking moment of life and then some. Think about all the detergent you have ever used to wash your clothes and the various materials they are made from that go down the drain or on the ground or the petroleum products used to make bathing suits. In the end it all ends up somewhere.

Go green by going nude when possible. Clothing wont wear out as soon, they keep colors longer from being washed less and water is conserved. The same goes for shoes, so if you like to be barefoot by all means go barefoot. Of coarse taking safety and ordinance into consideration.

going off topic not needing to wear as many clothes lightens your luggage when you travel and cuts costs in check baggage when you fly.

wouldn't you like to do less laundry if it meant washing a few more towels from time to time?

Naturists also help keep the planet green by keeping development away from unspoiled lakes and beachfront ecology. Many Naturist groups routinely gather for beach cleanups and advocate dune protection by building boardwalks over them.
