We have the tools and technology needed to address the epic challenges of our time. What we lack are appropriate cultural institutions to implement these solutions. The critical innovation humanity needs is not cost-effective solar panels, it is a platform for collaboration, sharing and exchange that will maximize creativity and adaptability. We need to find a way to empower each individual on earth such that they can contribute their best talents.

By creating a supportive group setting, facilitation methods such as Open Space, Theory U and World Cafe allow the Big Mind awareness of an entire group to emerge. These practices help us un-learn political programming that would normally cause us to participate as a self-interested individual.

As a circle of people deepen their practice, the group entity -the voice of the whole- emerges in greater and greater clarity. We can use these types of wisdom councils as bridges over the ruins of yesterday's failing cultural institutions.

By linking these wisdom councils, we can generate a meta-group that would begin to become self-aware. A federation of self-organizing nodes would not have to declare any decision-making authority. The federation would simply provide local groups and individuals access to the wisdom, knowledge, technical support and contextual savvy they need to properly address local problems within the context of global awareness.

As local groups play around with these models of interaction, they can share what they learn with sister groups, and the meta-collective grows smarter.
