The Doorway

The nature of life and death
lies in the science of a doorway
and the nature of time itself
lies subtly in the frame
On both sides lies a restless void
of unexpected dreams that
form premonitions on the other side
for us to keep in memory
to remind us of our travels.
We are not enslaved by the door
for it does not find us.
The paths we choose to choose to walk
chain us to our thoughts
and between the two we are lost
until we find our feet before its frame again,
which we inevitably do.
For without something we are nothing
but without nothing we can never
be something, only a dream and a
prayer, a whisper to a vacant ear.
There is a way around the door
if you wish it to be so,
if its nothing you desire.
But that is for those with nothing
to give. The doorway invites you
to its arms to cross into what you
have missed. But to pass through
you must lose all that you have gained.
Gold cannot sparkle forever,
if it is stuck within your eye.
When your treasures weight feels like a feather
it is time for you to die.
Pass through that ancient doorway,
as long as it is there.
God gave it to us for a change
for our devotion to compare.
And I think it possibly a truth
that when we find a gold to stay
God will birth a love under our feet
and destroy his ancient doorway.
