I've been wanting to write about this for a while, for personal documentation and to share with others so as to bounce ideas around.

My statement is in regards to the differences between and the relations of acid and mushrooms. I don't know if I'd consider myself a psyconaut but I've certainly been on some trips in my day, and I don't think there are any absolute definitions of what a psyconaut is so perhaps I am. The big differences make logical sense. Mushrooms, produced by nature, are grounding, earthy, comfortable in a biological sense. Whereas acid is very alien and godlike.

When I'm on mushrooms, I feel VERY human. I connect with my animal self, and observe my environment as I would suppose an animal experiences it. The visuals are spectacular, colorful, and soothing. Everything kind of liquifies and floats along without my consent. Objects do not transform so much as they melt and roll through my field of vision. I think it is an important experience in that it perspectifies reality through a very biological lense.

Acid is a different animal altogether. On acid I find myself synched with the cosmos. I discover the magic in all things. Observing commonplace occurences as mystical, interconnected, novel in every sense of the word. The visuals however are somewhat unpredictable. I've seen objects transform. I've seen immensely complicated geometry. And when I look at text it transcribes itself into something like sanskrit. Its a very spiritual thing. And when people take acid together, some really strange and wonderful things tend to happen. I've personally experienced real telepathy, acknowledged by the other party after the fact. I have some friends who once astral projected together. They both left their bodies and had an experence, returned to their bodies, and had a conversation about the experience. The implications of these types of phenomena are huge and one might feel bewildered or frightened upon realizing them. Furthermore, I'd say acid is transformative for anyone who takes it as it forces a death and rebirth of sorts. It seems to rid one of ego and allow for the experience of the eternal now. There is no doubt that this substance has changed our society for the better. It was the catalyst of energies that set in motion our current collective sense of empathy with the other.

The quality that these two drugs share is that of "one-ness", the fulfilling experience of interconnectivity. I seem to always reach a point within the context of both types of trip where I realize that I am, as Carl Sagan once said, star stuff. This I believe, is the true value of these substances. Upon observing the true nature of our cosmic existence, we will tend to act on that realization once returned to sobriety. My experiences with both mushrooms and acid have shaped my world view, and more importantly, they have shaped my worldview from within. There is no adopted meme, no trend of information, just the raw data taken in by a temporary sixth sense. It has allowed me to find spirituality and given me peace of mind beyond measure. Perhaps this peace of mind is achievable through other spiritual practices such as meditation, but alas, I would not have known the value of meditation if it were not for my experiences with psychedelics. I do hope that these powerful tools continue to transform individuals for generations to come.

Its a weird and wonderful world, and we get to live in it.

Peace and <3

Telepathy

I'm glad I'm not the only one who has had this experience. This is something I struggle with, because there's no question I had the experience numerous times, and even confirmed details with the others involved - and yet I don't "believe" in telepathy as we tend to define it. All I can say for sure is some sort of communication took place that I can't explain. The most important lesson I learned from psychedelics is that our current understanding of the world is miniscule, and that not everything can be understood with the thinking mind. It didn't give me new beliefs to replace the old - I just no longer have beliefs.

beliefs

I've come to "believe" in the mystery, to know that I don't know, and there's something very refreshing about that.

telepathy

That's the thing. You do it. You have to believe. The substance is the tool. The, Key, Essential Tool.
The stigma acid has for being called Acid in our society, I feel hurts the general purpose of the molecule, with pure intention you can go wherever, for real. I see lots of kids and ravers and hipsters and such getting pumped about 'tripping' and then bathing in the attention and cultural acceptance if not New Counter-culture acceptance that's been spawned from original cultural rules. It's fun to do things that you are told not to do, especially something which has a nationwide ban engraved in all their heads at once. Sometimes that intention alone can really dim the beauty of it on a personal level. We can really leave our bodies, even together, and experience whatever it is we wish to experience, go wherever it is we want to go, individually or as a group, so long as we believe. The internet seems about as fast as communication is going to get until we either Realize our current telepathic abilities or finally cross over into almost involuntary telepathy. I feel the psychedelics give you a nice taste of what telepathy could be like, or what it's already like, currently. Or Both. I don't know. Neat stuff though, this organic spaceship we're on.

freedom and acid

in a supposedly free society, the government restricts and controls the very thing that makes us, us - our consciousness.
When I was younger, growing up in a very liberal small college town, lsd and mushrooms were everywhere. Unfortunately I was very naive and used these for strictly recreational purposes.
Now that I am much older, though I wish to use either mushrooms or lsd to aide me in expanding my consciousness, the government of course restricts it's use. I believe it is because they are afraid what would happen if everyone starting waking up and realizing who and what we are. The world would drastically change and they would lose all power over us.
Though I could care less about my government and would do as I please despite them, they have effectively taken these substances away from me by virtue of making it nearly impossible to get. I am sure if you are a college student or live in a large city it is not hard, but for us "older" folks living in small towns forget about it.
Though I have tried virtually every legal and not so legal means to obtain lsd or mushrooms, from buying truffles from holland (sorry, did not do it for me at all) to trying to grow my own mushrooms , the government has done their job and are keeping things which would help expand our consciousness out of the hands of those who , like me, are older and only wish to keep things in the privacy of my home.
Too bad I didn't keep a HUGE stash of Mr Natural when i was younger :)
It just always amazes me how people stick up for this country claiming we are free. When they restrict your very consciousness, we are anything but free.
