This group is about food, taking back the control of our food and the revitalization of local and homegrown, ecologically sound and regenerative food production. In this group and at our events, we will share facts, ideas, resources and opinions in such areas as supporting local CSA's, growing our own food, exploring permaculture, organizing and creating community gardens, sharing recipes, the ethical treatment of animals, people and the environment, organic ideals and standards, biodiversity, and the exploration of regenerative practices that respect the environment. We will also begin to understand the impact that factory farms, processing plants, and supermarkets have on our environment and our bodies, versus local and homegrown food production.
In addition, we will explore how our choices affect not only our own well-being, but the well-being of our community, people and animals around the world and the environment. Together, we will begin to take responsibility for our own existence and that of our children. The most important rules in this group are that we have fun, stay relatively positive, and ultimately begin to thrive rather than just survive.
If you are unfamiliar with the term “permaculture” here’s a brief description:
The practice of Permaculture enables people to, over time, "create systems that are ecologically sound and economically viable, which provide for their own needs, do not exploit or pollute and are therefore sustainable in the long term."
