I submitted an idea I had for a small business to the Pepsi Refresh Project, which was just accepted. (It involves veggie garden installation loosely based on the "gift economy" model.) I need votes now. If anyone would like to check it out and possibly cast a vote, here is the link: http://www.refresheverything.com/foodfromlawns

Right on
I just voted for your idea. Localized veganic food production, along with gift economy (non-capitalist) economics, is definitely the most sustainable, natural and ethical way to go; acting on that shared vision humanity can transition out of this backwards unnatural system of exploitation and destruction. There is the problem of land ownership and taxation however that keep people from living fully self-sufficiently and instead being exploited by corps and banks, and for that I think the People of Brazil, along with many others doing the same thing elsewhere, along with the countless examples of what we now call "Land Reform" from the past, present an answer, that many may say is too "radical", but there may be no other way, and what's really radical is our continued disconnection to , and destrcution of , Earth/Nature/Animals & Each Other:

Thanks for your comment and
Thanks for your comment and your support. I see this as a baby step towards the kind of model you envision. Here in America, the idea that you can get food from the earth instead of a supermarket is a bit radical. What has kept me awake many nights is the nightmare scenario of a breakdown of the just-in-time management system of food production in this country. If we don't get more local growing going on the scale of Russia during their collapse and the system breaks down, make no mistake - mass starvation. Hope this idea can spread.
I voted for you too! Great
I voted for you too!
Great idea, best of luck and let us know if you get the grant!
- Yesterday is history. Tomorrow is a mystery. Today is a gift, that's why they call it the present.
Lost.
Although this idea didn't win, it was still fun trying. Thanks to everyone who lent support by spreading the word & voting frequently!
I guess I won't be in business doing this, but I'll still enjoy helping friends & family put their gardens in, if they need it. Now, the job search begins in earnest.
