Because of the original article there has been more worldwide press on this important issue than ever before. Interesting that the U.S. media did not cover the story anywhere that I was able to find...

Also, population growth is often regarded as the "elephant in the corner" that nobody wants to address, but as one commenter notes on the above article:
"This issue of population size is bullshit. A massive proportion of the planet use a microscopic percentage of the world's resources including oil.
The problem is not population size but overconsumption by the minority."
