Scientists Find Antibodies that Prevent Most HIV Strains from Infecting Human Cells

Hidden News: Possible HIV Cure Found

In 2008 the Wall Street Journal published an article which described how an HIV+ man being treated for leukaemia was apparently CURED of HIV - 10 years after his diagnosis - when given a bone-marrow transplant from a stem-cell donor who had a gene mutation CCR5-delta32, which has been known to be linked to a marked lack of HIV observed in gay men, even though egaging in risky sexual behaviours, who carry the relatively-rare gene mutation.

Although there are some risks involved, research into this "gene-therapy" cure is still in progress. A Google search for news on "ccr5-delta 32 mutation" turned up a few current articles, many of them from other countries' news sources. And as far as I know, US clinical trials aren't expected to begin for at least the next 4 years.
