IcerocketA large disservice to evolvers is the total blocking of blog posts on the basis of what a machine thinks might be spam.
Keep it up and most of us will be removing ourselves.

Yes, the internet is a free-for-all with this amazing ability to share information and bring us together - the drawback being that you have predators, scavengers and lots and lots of bugs. It's not perfect but like my garden, which is quite messy and overgrown in places, with fencing (which often needs repair) around things I want some control over, it seems to work for me and various other creatures that share the space. the evolver site is a medium which allows us to connect, nothing more or less - what we do with this is up to us. the site has been bombarded with spam lately - personally i would rather go through a safety gate and have the site running than lose it. sorry, i must of missed the memo asking if the majority here were in favour of dropping out due to this.

As I mentioned before, we get a lot of spam. 4300 blocked just the other day. Without that automated system in place, the entire site would be one big advertisement for ugg boots. So far, the only complaint about the automated system has come from you. Rest assured that I'll continue to explore options for improving it. Thanks!

did you ask us? i'm creative, but i can understand the unfortunate requirement for safety guards to slow down the spam... i guess this is what irritated me - the blanket statement that we were all heading out the barn door en masse. sorry, Cee Are, will try to remember to check the ego upon arrival. not always successful...

-at least twenty who no longer post here, due to the captkcha. What will happen with this sterner absolute blocking of posts is yet to be seen.
My primary complaint is there is NO way around once the software filter decides you are attempting to post spam. And it may slow down actual spammers, but it is not stopping them !
I'd rather the guilty get thru than the innocent be stymied.
Anything else seems rather pro capital punishment and more than
a bit UN - evolved !

We've been getting bombarded with thousands of spam messages each day lately, and it's not really possible for any human to keep up. if you feel "the machine" has labeled your post as spam in error, please send me a message and i'll do what i can to help. Overall, it seems to work pretty well.

Three times last week and twice today the machine notified me that my blog post had triggered an installed spam filter and would not be allowed.
No Captcka, no explaination, no appeal.
"overall" is not an experience that individuals can have.
In my view, software either works for everyone or less than anyone,
in which case it's really only of value to it's coders.
Due to limited time to be online my blog posts are cut and pasted in,
usually poems -
so while that don't resemble paragraph structure - they are not actually spam.
