The War on Pot is an Abject Failure...Now's the Time for a New Approach

Marisa Smith Weppner 3 years ago Practically overnight, faster than you can say "Depression 2.0", a ballooning number of politicians, mainstream media journalists, and members of the public are acknowledging the fact that cannabis prohibition isn't drug control — it's drug chaos.

Glad to hear it
I'm very glad to learn that current policy vis-a-vis cannabis is being criticized as counter-productive in circles where there is a real chance that such policy might be reversed.
I have a beef with the assumption implicit in the statement that drug policy is an "abject failure." It certainly is a failure if you believe that the purpose of such legislation is to protect humans from dangerous narcotics or to suppress widespread use of cannabis. However if you assume that the purpose of such anti-drug laws is to wage war on liberty and promote a crypto-Inquisitionist police state, then the so-called "War on Drugs" has been quite successful.
But it appears we've entered a time when radical changes are now possible that hitherto seemed remote. It's a scary time in some ways, but it seems there's an opportunity for some positive changes. I hope this one will come to fruition.
Me too
Thank you for your thoughts, Anteros. The War on Drugs has been successful in those regards, and I am hopeful as well that the time of those oppressions will soon end.

Some money for our deprived economy
I think that once we legalize hemp or regulate cannabis in one location of the country everyone will jump all over it because of the amazing tax money it will generate.
more reasons for legalization...

What Hempfield?
My children graduated from Hempfield High School. I love to ask people around here, "What hemp field...where?" and go on to explain
the values of industrial hemp...food, clothing, shelter...what's wrong wth this picture. They want to keep feeding us the DC sandwich(their balony on our bread) and keep the Food and Drug Administration administring for Fat Cats who are about as healthy as a wart on an eagles...bottom. Oh yeah, drug administration, nice ring to it. Hemp seed is better for humans than Kellogg's Pop Tarts. Ok...I'm feeling nappy and forgot what I wanted to say. So what...at least it was an original thought and not some regurgitated stale policy designed to
rape our humanity with industrial toxic biomass. Good Greif!

Thanks for sharing the video, soal Jack. No doubt the US's progress on cannabis laws will allow Canada to finally move in the direction it wants.
